Winfield is bumping a bunch of threads where people say, "Congrats, Phil!" to simply respond, "The Winfield legacy lives on."

What does that even mean?

A great intellectual battle...

only a matter of time before the 'scene kids' go back to dial up...like they did vinyl.

Uh it's not like that all. Vinyl never went out of style in the scene to begin with. Lots of bands refused to press their records on CD even when it became the dominant format.

I was just going to put walter's quote here. Genius.

If Obama looses in 2012, there's a good chance the the GOP becomes the party of fiscal conservatism and economic populism

Typos are funny.

Bernie would probably win Vermont if Obama were deemed to have more than 272 evs in the vag.

Classic Carl

Thing is, CARL, I support a balanced budget and even a balanced budget amendment, if were sensible.  S.J. Res. 10, the favored version of the Congressional Tea Party, with no mechanism to provide for counter-cyclical spending during economic downturns is not sensible. Not only that, but with its spending cap, and supermajority tax provisions, it doesn't really deserve to be called a balanced budget amendment as the balance budget portion is simply the sheepskin to cover the wolf inside.

No, you support more taxes, higher taxes.

they are always labeled as perpetrators of a "tax and spend agenda." I believe that as liberals, it means we should always try something new. I think that we should stop taxing by income and start taxing by amount of offspring in the sense that more offspring = more taxes.

That is without a doubt one of the most idiotic suggestions I have ever read in my entire life.

I don't know why but coming from Winfield it amused me.

We should have a committee made up of half mods and half-non mods investigate this and similar incidents and file a report for the forum.

A "Super Committee" if you will.  If the Super Committee is unable to reach a consensus, then there will be automatic spending cuts to all boards on Atlas.

Okay. We just did this while you were away and came to a consensus that this thread is one of the most retarded things we've seen on Atlas. We've further agreed that, given the quality of stuff posted around here, that's actually saying a lot.

Yours,

Atlas Joint Committee on this Stupid Tinypic Thing

Classic josh4bush

That is what you think. But that isn't what the trends and polling data are showing.

By the way, how are you trending, Josh?

Im doing good. I suppose that is what you are asking.

2)If the Supreme Court does review the constitutionality of the mandate, how will they rule?

I think it will be a 4-4-1 split, all conservatives objecting on the basis of the Commerce Clause, with Anthony Kennedy being the deciding vote.

What I want to know is what would happen if Kagan recuses herself and there is a 4-4 deadlock?

There's no reason for her to recuse herself.

I think she was somehow involved with the process, but I don't know what role that was.

"House parties" are often held, where Generation X-ers sit back drinking beer wishing they can relive the glory of the voguish, contemporary dissimulation of the Clinton/Gore era.

Delaware hanging red while MA, CA and NY go blue is curious JJ. By the way, the term "realignment" means something with some staying power. Do you remember the 1984 map?  Was that a "realigning" election?  The term "realignment" is overused, and each time it is used, it should be taxed really. I hereby declare it an act in interstate commerce.

There is whole thread on the possibility of a realignment which was started in January 2008.

As I said, "Obama, Worse Case Scenario." It is basically the very left wing states and the home states of Obama and Biden.

Like I said, if we see this map, you are looking at a re-alignment.

1980 was the re-aligning election as I define it.  V. O. Key called the "critical elections" and probably would have defined 1984 as that election.  He did regard 1936 as the "critical election."

I regard it as being a lot more gradual, taking place over 8 years.  We may have started one in 2010, and if we get a map like this one, the probability will be that we are in one.  I basically said by 2016 we'd be in one, but I had no idea what it would look like.

Here is the thread:  https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=69332.0

In other words:

This is "Obama, Worse Case Scenario" map:

If you see this map, you may be looking into the future.

A re-alignment would produce a map that would resemble this, if not be identical to this.  An Obama defeat, but a strong showing, would not signal a realignment.

Not that I really care, but what is Explosions in the Sky High?  Is it some sort of fireworks show?

And you should go if you want to I guess.
