I'd actually say Dean, even if he is more liberal. He's more charismatic, gets the base more excited, is far more principled, and has the advantage of being a governor as opposed to a senator.

Though the most electable Democrat that year would of course be Wesley Clark.

If Dean would have done any better than Kerry, he would have won the election.

People always paint Kerry as this terrible campaigner who had no chance of winning the national election.  In reality, he came within ONE STATE of winning the national election.

Dean would have lost PA, OR, WI, and NH.

I would have put Dean and Wes Clark on the same ticket which would have done much better than the Kerry Edwards ticket, due to the swift boat issue that's why I chose Dean.

Dean would have won IA but lost PA, and his numbers down South would have been even worse than Kerry's.
