I wonder if she's vulnerable to a primary challenge. Heath Shuler?

She's only at 55% approval with Democrats, so it wouldn't be out of the question.

I kind of think either Shuler, Marshall, or even Roy Cooper might run. I remember a few months back Cooper even came close to Mccory.

I'll still support Perdue against any other Democrat but...
If Perdue doesn't again and if David Price doesn't retire in 2012, I think Brad Miller should take the plunge instead of trying to hold his district.

Why is Perdue so unpopular, especially with Democrats?

I'm not a Dem but she just seems not likeable and uncarring

She is also inneffective. She failed to keep the Democrats in line to uphold her veto of the GOP budget. And it appears she lost several more veto overide fights yesterday but I don't know which ones.
Her approvals have been about that bad for around 2 and half years. At this point, I'd say she retires or faces a primary challenger.

Maybe the national party will learn from Blanche Lincoln in 2010 and pressure someone like Shuler to run instead of blindly backing the incumbent. A "fresh face" Democrat could ride the Presidential result or at least make it competitive.

He would make it more competitive but I can see a 1972 scenario with Mccory winning

I can see one of the Democratic Congressmen running that are in a new Republican district to knock Perdue out

I never understood why NC elected Bev in the first place over the clearly superior McCrory. I hope they correct their mistake, but I'm not going to believe it till election day. Bev could survive by the skin of her teeth if the younger crowd votes. That said, I doubt they vote like they did in 2008.

Living in Charlotte, I can say that McCrory was a good mayor and I can attest that he has done many great things for the city.
However, even with a moderate like McCrory, I can't imagine what Republicans would do if they controlled the Legislature
and
the Governorship.
With Republicans all but guaranteed majorities in the Legislature for the next 10 years, any influence Democrats will have statewide will come from the Governor's office.
Thats why I'm supporting Perdue. I want Democrats to have a seat at the table.
