I'll say no to this one. I don't like the eagle as a national symbol, but the Bison? The Eagle is the symbol (or has been) for Germany, Prussia, Austria, Austrian-Hungarian Empire, Russia, Albania and the US. No more Eagles, let's find somthing new, but not the bison.

Lately, I think this would be a more appropriate symbol

Seriously though, the Bison isn't all that bad. I would rather wait until we get a variety of options before we choose a national symbol. We should not just ok the first thing that someone throws out on the table.

The turkey would be an acceptable option.

I once say a bison in Wyoming in a game park. It came up to our window, slobbered on it, and then did something which I'd rather not repeat on the ground next to our car.

I've always sort of thought of it as a burly, inelegant animal. The eagle for the U.S. balances power and grace. The bison balances power and flatulence.

I'd have to go with no, sadly.

That means it's perfect!! The majority of politicians here have a lot of power and are full of sh*t!

Then instead of being the National Symbol, it should be the Senatorial Symbol.

I'm not clear on section 2 - does it prevent farm raising herds of these animals for those uses, or just hunting? I could understand the latter, provided the bison is endangered, but I see no reason to ban the former, as it is actually a good way to ensure the survival of the species.

Hunting the animal in the wild. Ranching of the animals would be permitted.

Gotcha. I have no problem with this then.

Though, personally, I think our national symbol needs to be

THE CHUPACABRA!

The jackalope of the Great Plains would be an excellent choice.  After all it does have that designed by committe look to it that is very appropriate for a fantasy government.
