I hope I assume correctly O'Malley won't be a sole candidate, right?

Correct. Just the first official candidate.

“Mr. Speaker, have you spoken with the Senate Majority Leader?”

“Yes, unfortunately Leader Reid is considering tabling all bills until the President appoints a Democrat. We’ll make sure the American public knows that the Democrats are clogging up the works in Congress and wasting taxpayer money.”

“Are we starting the confirmation hearings for Bentley on Monday?”

“Yes, with or without the Senate.”

Somewhere in Chicago, Illinois
In her first interview since the assassination…

“Last question Mrs. Obama…and thank you for letting us speak with you today…do you anticipate running for office in 2012 or in the future?”

“No, I don’t think so. I need to focus on raising Malia and Sasha.”

Manhattan, NY

“General Powell is speaking up about John Boehner’s two month old Presidency for the first time since the assassination…”

“President Boehner is incompetent to lead…he’s emotionally distraught…he’s ascended to the Presidency and done nothing with it. The American public is furious that he’s holding the Presidency hostage. I’d go as far to say that he’s holding the country hostage. He says he will run for President –but his idea of a campaign team is a joke.”

“Were you approached by President Boehner for the Vice Presidency?”

“No, I was not.”

Majority Leader Reid moves up the vote on the Vice Presidential nominee...Vote in the Senate on the confirmation of Governor Robert Bentley of Alabama to be Vice President of the United States…the vote fails 92-8, the “Yes” votes are listed below.

1.   Richard Shelby
2.   Jeff Sessions
3.   Jon Kyl
4.   Dan Coats
5.   Jerry Moran
6.   Pat Roberts
7.   Thad Cochran
8.   Roger Wicker

Speaker Eric Cantor vows to hold a vote sooner instead of Monday in defiance of the Senate, on confirming Robert Benteley anyway and urges the Senate to reconsider.

“Mr. President.”

“Yes, Barry?”

“The Senate has just denied your appointment of Governor Benteley as Vice President 92 to 8.”
“They didn’t even hold a hearing. They’re not giving Robert a fair shake.”

“Sir, the House wants to bring it up. The Majority Whip says that they don’t have the votes but the Speaker wants to push it to the floor anyway. This could be a very bad defeat for us…I recommend you withdraw your nomination now...”

“I have faith in Eric…he’ll get it to pass, then maybe the Senate will take it up again…”

“Sir, the Senate isn’t going to…”

“Eric’s done it before, we got the votes on the deficit package back in July when everyone else said we didn’t..”

“Sir, that was less than 20 votes…this is…well…more…Have you spoken with the Speaker?”

“Not since November.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“Don’t forget who you’re speaking to.”

Washington DC

Washington Post Newsroom…

“Just got a release from…oh wow…look at this Stanley.”

“Hmm –oh wow. We need to get on this now.”

“What happened guys?”

“Both former Presidents Bush and Clinton just called for Boehner to resign.”

I guess if Bentley weren't from Alabama, Shelby would join Republicans like McCain in opposing him. Shelby is actually pretty independent minded for a Southern Republicans.

January 10th 2011

HEADLINE: FORMER PRES BUSH SR, CLINTON, BUSH JR CALL FOR BOEHNER TO RESIGN

HEADLINE: BOEHNER VP NOMINEE DEFEATED IN SENATE 92-8

Drudge Headline: HOUSE VOTES DOWN BENTELEY – 356 – 79

” I have not been in Washington long, but long enough to know it is broken. As I travel across New York, the people I meet are focused entirely on jobs and economic security for their families. Congress should take this charge as its own. In my career in the Senate, I have looked for bipartisan ways to reduce the debt in a responsible way and create jobs in this struggling economy. I’ve looked for ways to protect the middle class against corporations and big oil.  President Boehner is incompetent and the Republican prospects do not look much better. We need someone who is willing to lead the charge, and to protect the middle class and all Americans –this is why, today, I announce my candidacy for President of the United States – Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York

Wolf Blitzer: “Unusual seeing a freshman Senator seeking the Presidency but its definitely not unheard of. We’ll have to wait and see how the Senator fares.”

In Ohio…

“So, lets cut straight to the point: Do you want your father to resign?”
“I’m glad you asked. I do. I don’t think he was ready to be President, and we need him here at home. I’m not sure if anyone else can tell, but he’s emotionally distraught over my mother’s death. Every day he’s not home it hurts us more..”

Drudge Headline: BOEHNER DAUGHTER CALLS FOR HIS RESIGNATION

(New) White House Press Secretary: We’re not going to comment on family issues…”

Reporter: “This is a national issue…his family doesn’t think he’s able to serve…should  the American public be worried that those people who know him best don’t think he’s sit to serve?”

White House Press Secretary: “The President has lead the country steadfastly in the past few months. Everyone was shaken by the events in November but we need to continue doing what is right for the country…”

Reporter:  “Do you think the President is fit to serve?”

White House Press Secretary: That’s all the time we have for questions today

Somewhere in the United States...

“Honey, you’re frustrated with the gridlock and process in Washington. You’d have a chance to change that.”

“Barack felt the same way. That’s why he ran. Even he couldn’t change it and now its too late”

“But its not too late for you. You have nothing to lose. We’ll all be behind you.”

“I’ll sleep on it.”

In the White House Residence…

“Mr. President, do you have a moment?”

“Barry, what is it?”

“Sir, the cards are beginning to look stacked against you…our internal polling shows that your approval has dropped into the 20s…people do not see you as a leader…internationally our allies do not want to work with us and do not believe your Presidency is legitimate…I’m starting to think that you should consider stepping aside…”

“The Constitution made me President. This isn’t my choice but its what I have to do. Its what the country needs me to do. We’re going to make great leaps forward this year and after we win election, we’ll make even more changes…we’re going to turn America around…”

“Sir, Congress denied your Vice Presidential nominee, three former President’s called for your resignation and no one wants to be in your Cabinet because they think it would be the end of their careers…your daughter call for you to resign…”

“If you couldn’t get my Vice President confirmed and if you couldn’t get anyone to be in the Cabinet then you’re clearly not saying the right things. I thought you would be a great Chief of Staff, its too bad that you have to go.”

“Sir?”

“You heard me Barry. Get out of here.”

Wall Street Journal Headline: BOEHNER FIRES CHIEF OF STAFF, PRESS SECRETARY RESIGNS

---

“Sorry, but we can’t get the President on the ballot by the New Hampshire primary…you’ll have to run as a write in…”

---

“No Wolf, President Boehner should not resign. President Obama was taking us down a path to socialism and now under Boehner we have a chance to recover from that. Who cares that he’s not doing anything, if we had a Democrat in there, they’d actively be making America worse.” – Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain

It's probably a matter of taste. Personally I never consider her attractive. But it's not important politically. However, I consider her a badly overrated, that's all.

Gillibrand would make a great President one day but she needs to focus on serving at least her 2013-2019 Senate term first. The last time a President was elected after just four years in the Senate, he was basically an invertebrate before Congress. (Oh, sorry, did I say 'was'? I meant 'is'.)

Also, Gillibrand is a sex god. And I almost never say that about anybody.

New York Post: BOEHNER TO STAY, HARD-ON FOR PRESIDENCY

Best. Headline. Ever.

It's even funnier if you mispronounce "Boehner".

Seriously, though, this is good stuff. Keep it coming.

Mid January to Early February 2012 (before the Iowa Caucses)

President John Boehner continues to defy Republicans and Democrats a like who say he should step down. “Impeach him!” cried Congressman Dennis Kucinich but all political pundits say that there is neither enough votes in the House or Senate to impeach and convict the President –not to mention they’re unsure of what crime he would be charged with.
The President has still not appointed a new Chief of Staff since the last one was fired, and his personal life has become more of a news story than it had been when he first took office. Unfortunately realistic tales of his emotional distraught are plastered across the tabloids around the United States and world.

The President’s Congressional liaison has publicly said he’s “overwhelmed” with the job and “isn’t worried about the President reading what I’m saying. If he fires me, there’s no one else.”
Congress is completely deadlocked with the President giving no leadership on any issues. Speaker Cantor is detested in the Senate, even by some Senate Republicans for his uncompromising nature and for not pressuring President Boehner to step down.

“This guy is a loser.” said Businessman Donald Trump of President Boehner. Trump is openly considering a run for President as an independent.

Republican Candidates Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty and Ron Paul have called for President Boehner to step aside.

Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain and Rick Perry have not called for his resignation but only Cain has gone as far as to say that Boehner should stay in office.

Democratic candidates for President, Kirsten Gillibrand, Martin O’Malley and Jim Webb are all in single digits in the polls –with voters confused about who will lead the Democratic Party to victory in November. All three candidates missed the deadline to participate in the Iowa Caucus or the New Hampshire Primary.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the DNC Chairwoman, has said that the DNC has been working on a plan on how they can choose a nominee for September. All states have already planned their primaries and said it would cost a lot more money to suddenly have a Democratic primary as well.

“Republicans have led our nation into one calamity after another because of their indifference to fact; their readiness to sacrifice the long-term to the short-term, subordinate the general good to the benefit of the few and short-circuit the rule of law…John Boehner is no exception. We need a Democrat in the White House now and in 2013…” – Former Vice President Al Gore speaking to Democratic fundraisers in New York

Iowa Caucus

“Rick Perry has defeated frontrunner Mitt Romney tonight, we know for certainty with Perry taking 28% of the vote to Romney’s 23%. The remainder is split between the other 8 candidates …Ron Paul in third by a slim margin…Bachmann in fourth…”

“We’re in this to win it. We’re going to go on and win South Carolina” – Newt Gingrich after a dismal showing in the Iowa Caucus

“We’re receiving word that Rick Santorum and Tim Pawlenty are most likely going to be exiting the Presidential race in the next few days” – Fox News Anchor

“President John Boehner received less than 1% of the vote in the caucuses today. A scalding rebuke of the President from Iowa Republicans. The White House has not yet commented.” – CNN Correspondent

”The Romney campaign is saying that this is a win for Mitt Romney –having campaigned significantly less in Iowa than all the other candidates and still coming in second place.” – MSNBC Correspondent

”We’re bringing real conservatism back to Washington…” – Governor Rick Perry after winning the Iowa Caucus

”How did we lose? I’m the President, we can’t lose.”[/] – President Boehner responding to an aide after learning the results in Iowa

“Mr. President, before I take the job as Chief of Staff I want to make sure you know that  if you want a ‘yes’ man then I’m not your guy.”

“I wouldn’t expect that of you.”

“Then let me tell you right off the bat. Your Presidency is a failure, sir. My first piece of advice would be to tell you to appoint a Democrat, or popular Republican –say Colin Powell, as Vice President. Once confirmed, you should resign.”

“I expected better of you Andrew. I wanted to hire you because you had faith in George Bush when the going got tough…”

“Sir, President Bush was able to lead. People may not have agreed with his policies but no one could say that he did not have a position…you have nothing…”

“We’re going to do a lot for the people Andrew, without you.”

“Mr. President, I don’t need this job –but you need me.” –
Former Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush Andrew Card right before exiting the Oval Office.

A few minutes later…

“Sir, your daughter is on the phone.”
“Really?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Hello?”

“Dad?”

“Yes honey, how are you? How’s your sister I haven’t heard from you in so long.”

“We want you to come home.”

“I have to be here for the people…”

“You’re not doing anything. You haven’t had a public event in months. How ignorant are you now?”

“Why don’t you and the family come here…”

“No. We didn’t want this –and you refuse to get out of it. You had a way out and you were blinded.”

February 16th 2012

Press Release: The Democratic National Committee and a majority of national committee’s for each state have come to an agreement on how we will select our Presidential nominee for 2012. Because there is not enough time to fairly plan primaries in every state, the nominee will be selected at the Democratic National Convention. We have moved the Convention, with the approval of the Republican National Committee, which will be held at the same site, back to June 1st through 10th.

The first five days will be dedicated to picking a candidate, with one day interim, and the remaining four days will be dedicated to showing our party’s platform. The entire convention will be in remembrance of President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

The State Democratic Party will be in charge of how they pick their delegates to the convention. The National Committee has determined how many delegates each state will receive. The nominee will need a majority of delegates to win at the Convention.

We are encouraging all candidates to declare their intention to be a nominee at the Convention as soon as possible in order for the media to fairly scrutinize their candidacy as they have been doing to the Republican candidates.

The DNC’s plan is generally received positively amongst the public. The Republican National Committee has discouraged any commenting on it by its own candidates.

February 18th 2012

Wolf Blitzer: “Governor Mitt Romney has won the Nevada caucuses, with Rick Perry in second and Ron Paul in third…No real surprise tonight…”

February 20th 2012

“Did you notice how long it took for the Republican candidates to take a position on whether or not President Boehner should step down? This is an easy solution to a problem that resulted from a horrible tragedy. It’s clear the Republicans are so entrenched by their ideology that they can’t even see that.” – Former Senator Russ Feingold announcing that he will seek the Presidency in 2012.

”If Donald Trump is serious about running then I might get serious about running.” – Mayor Michael Bloomberg speculating on running for President in 2012.

February 28th 2012

Anderson Cooper: “Governor Rick Perry has taken home South Carolina, winning his second state in this year’s primary contest…surprisingly, Mitt Romney has come in third place to Ron Paul…Our sources say that Herman Cain, Michelle Bachmann and Newt Gingrich will all be out of the race by the end of the week…if not sooner…”

March 1st 2012

“I’m in.” – Donald Trump announcing that he will seek the Presidency as an independent in 2012.

“I’m not going to seek it out, I love what I’m doing as Mayor of Chicago but if nominated I would be honored to serve.” – Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago commenting on whether or not he would run for President.

March 2nd 2012

“I will be voting for Al Gore at the Convention in June.”  - Former DNC Chairman Howard Dean announcing that he will not seek not  the Presidency after some speculation

"I won't be a candidate in 2012 for the Presidency." - Former Democratic Nominee John Kerry after being asked if he will run in 2012.

Super Tuesday

“Two things are clear after tonight…Ron Paul will not be the nominee for the Republicans and this could very well end tonight with Mitt Romney taking home a majority of states, votes and delegates from today’s election…

Tonight Mitt Romney takes home the big states and states with more moderate Republicans…– California, Illinois, Connecticut, Montana, New Jersey, Utah and Delaware…

Rick Perry wins the more conservative states…Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Georgia…”[/i]

“No, I’m not worried about winning the South in the general election. Some Republicans may favor Rick Perry over me right now, but when the choice is between a conservative Republican like myself or a Democrat, they’re going to vote for me.” – Mitt Romney in an interview after polls closed.

“When up against the Democratic nominee the moderate Republicans are going to come running back home. I’ll be here for them when they do.” – Governor Rick Perry

”They’ll nominate me at the convention. They’ll see that Romney and Perry aren’t right for the party.” – President Boehner to a random worker in the White House

March 8th 2012

“President Boehner needs to resign. Luckily, the Senate and House have been able to handle the problems that have come up so far, including an investigation into the assassinations, as well as an agreement on an infrastructure plan to create jobs…the Constitution allows a bill to become law after 10 days if the President ignores it…this isn’t a safe way for our country to be run…we need an active President. Boehner has wasted time that America cannot get back.” – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Mid March Boehner Approval: 18%

Disapproval: 66%

March 9th 2012

“This guy is a ticking time bomb.” – Former Vice President Al Gore speaking about President Boehner

March 30th 2012

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passes away. Senate Majority Leader Reid calls on President Boehner to appoint a liberal justice to her position.

April 2012

GOP Nomination: Rick Perry drops out of the race at the end of March, endorsing Governor Mitt Romney who is now the presumptive nominee. Mitt Romney isn’t expected to announce a Vice Presidential pick until June saying “We’re going through a thorough vetting process. I won’t pick a Vice President on a whim.” Romney won no states in the South and lost Florida to Perry by a small margin.

Democratic Nomination: States have nearly finished choosing delegates to the Democratic National Convention…who will cast their votes the first week in June. National polls show that a plurality of voters would support Gore with Jim Webb moving up to third, Feingold in second, Gillibrand in fourth and O’Malley narrowly bringing in the rear. Polls show that voters are still getting to know the Democratic contenders and Mitt Romney. Al Gore has the most name recognition of everyone running followed by Mitt Romney.

Independents: Donald Trump has formally made a campaign committee and has his cronies on the ground trying to spread his campaign platform of being a job creator. Michael Bloomberg has stated that he finds many of Trumps comments concerning and is considering a Presidential bid. He is expected to announce his intentions soon.

Boehner: Boehner has appointed an inexperienced aide as Chief of Staff who is openly unsure of what to do in the position. His press secretary was hired from the RNC, which Eric Cantor is resisting opening an investigation on to see if he is still on the RNC payrolls. Most psychologists say that Boehner has severe depression…but anyone could have told you that.
Domestic Update: Congress is managing to get by without the leadership of the President. Speaker Cantor has been more willing to work with the Senate on bills now that Cantor has realized Boehner has abandoned him completely and since moderate Republicans threatened to rebel against his leadership unless he cooperated with the Senate.

Even though unemployment has declined, the stock market has had more bad days than good ones.

President Boehner has made no move to appoint a Supreme Court Justice.

International Update: A storm is brewing within the enemies of America who want to take advantage of this absence of leadership. The US is beginning to feel like Argentina. I like it. President Cantor? It can't get any worse than it is now.

When historians look back at 2011-2012, it will seem to be the most chaotic time in American history.

Three presidents in a matter of months, with an election coming up. Country more divided than ever. Economy is (likely) in the sh*tter.

This is awesome, really excited for the next update.

Oh God, Peter King or Eric Cantor...I don't even...

This is one of the most gripping timelines I've ever read. The title is really, really not kidding.
