Too bad McDonnell can't run for reelection.

If Obama's reelected, this says Republican. If he's not, the Democrat wins. Simple as that.

I suppose this is most likely. I think their governor was a Democrat during most of the Bush years and a Republican during most of the Clinton years.

Whichever party loses the Presidency wins the Governorship the next year. It's happened every cycle back to, I think, Carter.

When are Virginia Democrats going to have the guts to field a candidate who supports repealing the misnamed "right-to-work" law?

As a rule, I don't believe in litmus tests, but I agree that it would be great if Democrats did more to try to repeal the law. I think it would be better for the Democratic candidate not to come out against it until being elected governor and then make its repeal a top priority. However, I don't see this happening until NOVA grows even more (and even then, it may well not happen). Then again, they probably won't take the state house for the foreseeable future, so it is probably a moot point.

Bolling apparently has McDonnell's preemptive endorsement. So Bolling v. McAulliffe it is, I guess.

Virginia has a proud (Democratic) tradition of being inhospitable to the parasitic unions.

Virginia has a shameful tradition of being hospitable to union busting. I frankly don't know why there haven't been more challenges to so-called "right-to-work" laws on constitutional grounds.
Seems to me that these laws violate the freedom to associate.

When they decide they aren't interested in winning.

Right-to-scab laws are unpopular though.
