If Mitch Daniels jumped into the race now, what impact do you think he would have? I think he would fall somewhere in the middle-top of the pack...

Won't happen.  Much less impact than if he had entered when he was c**k-teasing everyone.

He could still have a strong effect as a VP candidate, though.

Too late.  He'd be another Fred Thompson/Wesley Clark non-starter.

Thompson was a major candidate even though he screwed his entrance as bad as Gingrich. Once he got in he just didn't try and thought the campaign would come to him. He did in fact lead in national and state-wide polls in the summer of 07.

He'd be a Huntsman, at least a Huntsman as of now. IE no one really knows who he is except for those who are really informed. That could change, but I have a feeling the major players are already set for this cycle in the Romney/BAchmann/Paul folks. Perry becomes a major player if he runs, and if Rudy runs, he'll become a major player and hurt Romney.

...I'd finally have a candidate worth supporting on his merits rather than how bad all the others are.

Daniels would've never gotten in anyway.

All because of that dirty tramp of a wife.
