Had to order a desktop...

Intel Core i7 930 (@2.8 Ghz)
12GB SDRAM
2TB HDD
Ati Radeon 6870 1GB Video
Bluray/DVD/CD RW

24in widescreen display

Thoughts on an Solid State Drive?  Worth it?  Configuration above too bottlenecked to take advantage?

The Socket 1366 i7s and related chipsets can support something like 24 or 32 GB or ram...the newest i7s...different socket (1155?) who knows...

The new i5s are a great value...pretty damn good performance.  It probably beats my half generation older i7 930...which is actually a favorite for enthusiasts (not as much as the 920, but still pretty popular)...if I ever actually sit down and build a system...which I may in the near future...I'd go with that chip...especially if I wanted a gaming system.
