Peter Robinson, DUP; Martin McGuinness, SF

Ulster Unionist.

What was "The Troubles"?
The civil war.

Who was Bobby Sands?
A hunger striking imprisoned IRA militant with long hippie hair who was elected MP by the good people of Fermanagh and South Tyrone, but not of course allowed to serve. He died on hunger strike soon after.

MEDIUM

What was "Bloody Sunday" and when did it occur?
British soldiers killing harmless Catholic demonstrants early in the Troubles. In Derry IIRC.

What part of Gerry Adams was banned in the UK and Ireland for a number of years?
What part? As in body part? I don't get it.

IRA, INLA, UVF, UDA, RUC, the British Army.

What city is sometimes called "Slash City" and why?
?

What is the method of Cabinet Selection in the Assembly?
Proportional (D'Hondt)

Name the parties currently in Cabinet in Northern Ireland
DUP, SF, UUP, SDLP, APNI. At least that was supposed to happen based on the last elections, didn't follow events to see if it was actually done (it was close), but I suppose Jas would have told me otherwise.

The shaking of hands of which two men brought in the current democratic period for Northern Ireland?
Ian Paisley and ...Martin McGuinness? (Or Gerry Adams? Or are you thinking of Good Friday rather than Slow Learners' Good Friday, as I am?)

HARD

Who is the official party leader for Sinn Fein in the Assembly (clue, it's not the dFM)
It isn't? Oh. Michelle Gildernew?

Who (which party leader) was literally dragged out of the legislature kicking and screaming in 1986
There wasn't a legislature of Northern Ireland in 1986. Ian Paisley was dragged out of the European Parliament somewhere around then, though, protesting against the Antichrist John Paul II.

I'm pretty sure the term is "Stroke City".
Google the two phrases, and all the top results for "Stroke City" refer to Derry... none of those for "Slash City" do. And there's half as many of them overall.
Not that I'd heard that one either.

Without reading other answers...

a) For what constituency was Ian Paisley (Sr.) first elected to Stormont (the Northern Ireland Parliament)? North Antrim

b) Under what label was he first elected? Some shortlived party that basically became the DUP soon after.

c) What was the name of the party founded by Brian Faulkner in 1974?
Northern Ireland Unionist Party. It bombed.

d) Who succeeded Faulkner as leader of the party and what "first" did the new leader represent?
Forget his name; opposition to Sunningdale (and by extension, to any kind of dialogue with taigs)

e) What was the significance of the Wild Birds Act under the Stormont Parliament?
?

f) What "first" did Gerard Benedict Newe achieve in 1971?
?

g) Who was the Alliance Party's first Westminster MP?
The second was Naomi Long...

h) In the 1982 Assembly elections, the United Ulster Unionist Party failed to win a seat with only 1.8% of the vote. However, two of its candidates in that election were to serve in the Northern Ireland Executive between 2007 and 2011. Name them.
I needed the reminder of the first set of questions to recall that that election ever happened, now you expect me to know stuff about the unionist splinter parties of the time?

i) Which five Sinn Féin candidates were elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 1982?
?

j) Which seat did the Unionist parties lose in the bye-elections after the Anglo-Irish Agreement in 1986 and to whom did they lose?
Prolly the DUP.

k) Name the ten parties who took seats in elections to the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996.
UUP, DUP, PUP, APNI, SDLP, SF, Northern Ireland Womens' Coalition, Rob McCartney's outfit, uh... WP?

l) Name the party which took six seats in the Northern Ireland Assembly elections in 1998, only to see all of its MLAs, apart from the party leader, leave the party. What, if any, connection did a cream bun have to this story?
Yeah, as I said, Rob McCartney's outfit (wait, is that his name? MP for North Down). United Kingdom Unionist Party, I think the name was. No idea about the cream bun.

m) Prior to the Dáil and Northern Ireland Assembly elections in 2011, three political parties had members in both legislative bodies. Name them.
Uh, what? There were Greens in both bodies but it's not the same party, is it? SF obviously, and unless you're counting SDLP as "a Labour Party", I haven't a clue what you might be referring to.

n) Five urban areas in Northern Ireland have the title "city". Name them.
Derry, Belfast, Lisburn, uh... Armagh? What with the Cathedral and stuff? And... Bangor maybe?

o) Who has announced his intention to contest the leadership of the SDLP?
?

p) Which building acquired the nickname "Dome of Delights" during the 1980s?
?

q) What did the banner across its front declare until the courts ordered it to be taken down?
?

r) Two Paisleys were elected to Westminster from Northern Ireland seats in 2010. Name them.
I don't believe you. Ian Paisley the Father stood down and Ian Paisley the Son inherited the seat.

s) What catchy acronym was used by the electoral pact between the Ulster Unionists and Conservatives in the 2010 election?
UCUNF

t) Who stood as the Alliance Party candidate in the 2009 European elections?
?

u) For what party and in what constituency did he stand in the 2010 Westminster elections?
?

v) For what party and in what constituency did his girlfriend/partner stand in the 2010 Westminster elections?
?

w) Of what party is the girlfriend/partner now a member, having defected in November 2010?
I demand an end to the building questions already.

x) In which constituency did the SDLP ill-advisedly but accurately compare its 2001 Westminster election campaign to Stalingrad?
Belfast West? Seeing as they won it as late as 92 and now got totally clobbered?
