Giants and 49ers

61-39 overall: most Giants state is New York at 72%, most 49ers state is Utah at 88%.

Utah's interesting. It has the highest proportion of people who said that they believed that Alex Smith was the Niners' long-term answer prior to the Saints game, at 35%. For perspective, California was just barely above the national average, clocking in 16%.

EDIT: I just remembered, Alex Smith played at the University of Utah. It all makes sense now.

Both Alex Smith and Steve Young went to school in Utah, of course. My dad became a 49ers fan when he lived there, before Steve Young became the starting quarterback; apparently it was Niners country even back then.

Hmm, that is a somewhat plausible 3-party electoral map, if you ignore West Virginia & Kentucky. Red would be pro-labor, Blue would be corporatist, Green would be the left-libertarian pro-weed party (who ran George McGovern it seems - that explains how they won South Dakota and Massachusetts)

I'm glad most of America (55% at the time I took the poll) has a sane view on the Eagles-Steelers result (believing that we Eagles fans shouldn't be that worried about our performance). It's disappointing that Pennsylvania on the whole feels differently. Not surprising though. I'm sure Steelers fans/everyone outside of the Philly area voted that we should be deathly afraid of what's to come because they buy into this non-existant cross-state "rivalry" between the Eagles and Steelers.

I voted no. Some teams that go 0-4 in the pre-season win the Super Bowl, And I think the Lions were 4-0 the year they went 0-16.
They did.

I see Saints fans are still bitter over their playoff loss.

Yes, I agree Nick Saban is the messiah
Yes, Nick Saban tried to get us into the SEC
Yes, Notre Dame beat us in the 1988 Natl championship AND in Morgantown in 2000.

I'm surprised Florida is in the Alabama camp and Texas is in the Notre Dame camp.

Which team will win Super Bowl XLVII?

49ers 40% (60% in California)
Patriots 35% (78% in Massachusetts)
Ravens 16% (52% in Maryland)
Falcons 9% (57% in Georgia)

The patterns here are simple: Georgia likes the Falcons, Maryland likes the Ravens, New England likes the Patriots, Michigan likes Tom Brady, Washington doesn't like the 49ers.

That would be a good 1980 map if John Anderson's candidacy really took off.

It is actually pretty close to a Reagan 43% Anderson 33% Carter 23% map, if you imagine nearly uniform swings.

It also kind of reminds me of the 2000 GOP primary map, with New England being paired with Michigan and a western state.

He would've been my vote.  I don't know why Cutler won that one.
Regular people hate the SEC more than Catholics?  I would not have guessed that.
The SEC is horribly overrated, especially Alabama.  I was rooting for Notre Dame too, because at least I like them.  It might get me kicked out of my church, but so be it.

And FTR, I'm rooting for the 49ers to win it all this year, especially now that the Packers and Broncos are out.  I'm surprised more people in Michigan didn't vote for them over the Patriots.  I get that Tom Brady was QB at Michigan, but so was Jim Harbaugh…

That's not to say that reasonable people can't argue that the SEC is overrated; it is.

I mean, there are some irritating SEC hacks out there that overrate the SEC (try following Saturday Down South on Twitter ... it's unbearable), but overall, it's a pretty hard argument to make.

For example, list all the non-SEC teams who would have been better than the 7th best team in the SEC this year if they were in the SEC:  Oregon, Stanford, Kansas State probably, maybe Ohio State... That's it.  I know fans of other conferences hate seeing 6 SEC teams in the top 10, but who else are you going to put?  Obviously not Oklahoma or Florida State, so there just isn't anyone else it can be.
