Let's just not confuse this with the Euro thread! That deserves to be separate.

And of course Phil can feel free to talk about Serie A or whatever.

I think this is why I always stopped myself from creating this type of thread. It will be me and occasionally another person commenting on Serie A.  Tongue

Arsenal are in shambles. Wenger needs to go.

Here's to a total collapse this Wednesday then when they face Udinese.  Smiley

Even though La Liga and Serie A players might be striking, Napoli's Friendly with Barcelona is still on.  Smiley  Here's hoping my guys can put on a good show!

Heck, if anybody cared they could even discuss US league football here.

...

No. I'll petition that this thread gets deleted if that catches on.

Napoli getting destroyed in our Friendly against Barcelona. It's 5-0...and there is still ten minutes left on the clock.  Sad

The final leg of the Champions League playoff round starts today. The more interesting games are tomorrow  but today's Zurich vs. Bayern Munich should be good.

APOEL just barely get through thanks to a goal in the final minutes. Pretty dramatic. Munich and Villareal get through as well.

Eleven minutes into the first half of extra time, Racing Genk (i.e. my team) still is leading Maccabi Haifa 2-1. (Other leg was 2-1 as well)

Penalty shoot out! Nothing better for those of us that are neutral!  Smiley

Arsenal are through. Too bad for Udinese. Lyon and Benfica advance as well. Can't wait for tomorrow's draw.  Smiley

Eh, whatever. At least we're not in that Barcelona-AC Milan group. Of course, the biggest gripe I have with this group is that my favorite player plays for Villareal. He better finally sign with Napoli...

In other news...

Inter, Manchester United and Porto caught big breaks. AC Milan and Barca are lucky in that they are guaranteed qualification for the Round of 16.

Group D is probably a smaller Group of Death. While Group A is the real one, I think it's fair to say that Bayern Munich and Manchester City are more favored (the former being more of a favorite than the latter obviously). At the very least, it will be fun to watch.

Too bad that Sturm Graz lost to BATE yesterday.

That reminds me of one of the idiot commentators on FOX Soccer Channel last night saying how great it was for Austrian Soccer to see a team advancing to the Champions League Group stage...while they were showing highlights of BATE beating Sturm Graz. And people wonder why I don't appreciate Soccer "culture" here...

Back to league news...

La Liga reaches an agreement so no strike in Spain. Meanwhile, a strike in Italy looks "probable."   Sad

So apparently a certain MLS team that represents my city came back from being down three goals. A friend of mine just described it as the "most epic comeback in Soccer." Oh, these silly American Soccer fans.

The sad part is that this kid actually knows about real Soccer leagues/tournaments and still had the audacity to say that.

Fun fact: a friend of mine is dragging me to this team's game this Saturday. I can't believe I actually agreed to go. Of course, he is paying.

Lazio up 2-0 against AC Milan in Milan within the first twenty minutes in the season kickoff!

It was uncomfortable for awhile but Napoli come away with a 3-1 opening win against Cesena including a goal just three minutes into the match. Since the only other game held so far was Milan vs. Lazio, Napoli is technically at the top of the table.  Wink

Champions League action starts today! Barca vs. AC Milan should be great but we're all anxiously awaiting the match of the week scheduled for tomorrow - Napoli vs. Manchester City!  Cheesy

Pato's goal is now officially marked at 25 seconds in. It is the quickest goal in Champions League history.

So close to an upset win but I'll take the draw in Manchester. Nice start, boys.

In other group news, Munich won 2-0.
