It would be cool for Democrats overall if Perdue would suddenly become popular over the next year.

God dammit. NC is going to re-elect her. What a shame.

The Republicans in the Assembly would repeal the entire 20th century's worth of NC laws if it weren't for her.

I think McCrory is reasonable enough to not let that happen. Any others in the GOP crop, however, I don't know. He's the only Republican I could support happily in this race. That said, I am not a NC voter and no longer live there, so my opinion is irrelevant. Tongue

Perdue's popularity could be crucial for Obama. If she becomes a popular governor, she may help Obama a lot there. Her numbers are improving since January, I think McCrory won't run because he doesn't want to loose again.

I'd like to see him run in NC-09 if Myrick retires. I'd much rather have him as my Congressman than Myrick.

I wonder about that. Usually the president help the governor, not the other way around. That said, Obama seems to be in good shape in NC according to all the polls coming out in that state, so Perdue may hang on for reelection.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I imagine Perdue's approvals took a jump due to Irene and the fact she responded pretty well. That changed the race, in my opinion, from "No matter what, McCrory will probably win" to "It all just depends on the economic conditions on Election Day".
