In reading a biography of Juan Peron I found out that a Peronist dominated constitutional convention in the late 1940's abolished Argentina's electoral college and replaced it with a direct popular vote (not sure if it had a runoff provision). This direct presidential vote was used in his 1952 election victory. In recent years however, I remember hearing about an electoral college used again, but now I believe it is direct vote, but a modified runoff rule. I'm wondering if Argentina holds the record for most amount of tinkering with a presidential election system.
