Naso's post and htmldon's response . . .

Many people who know me asked why I would vote against Barack Obama? Was I a racist? Was I a misogynist? No.

My vote isn't against the Barack Obama everyone likes personally, or the man who carried out a mission to kill Osama bin Laden. My vote is against the culture, and the types of people who have the mindset and the attitude and thinking that Barack Obama caters to.

For example...I greatly dislike the hip-hop culture. For heaven's sake...we had a hip-hop star create a music video showing the staged execution of a child. I think to myself...how can this stop? I hate this stuff. It needs to end.

Then I turn on the TV and see this:

"Yo, let's get rid of George Bush and Rock the Vote!"

....that makes me want George Bush even more.

Or I see this:

That's like a poison pill. I am always aggravated by "hand signs" let alone hip-hop music. They're endorsing Obama? That leans me the other way. See what I mean?

When I get aggravated by people who make clear they vote Democrat, that makes me want to vote Republican as a protest towards the types of people that aggravate me.

If teachers and I have a rocky past, and I see the teacher's bashing a Bush or Perry and the unions endorsing Obama, that makes me want to vote Perry.

You understand what I'm trying to say? It's not race...after all...I voted for a black man for Governor of Ohio in 2006 when many other Republicans did not on the basis of race. It's not against the man who killed Osama bin Laden, which, as you may recall made me more supportive of him at the time than many in his own party.

If you have to be nice to someone who is being rude or complaining, does that mean you want to be nice? No. You have to. Why? Because of fear of legal action. Okay so where the problem? Frivolous lawsuits, ambulance chasers, ect. Who do those people cater to? The Democratic Party. Bada-bing...voting Republican.

See? So it's not even that I don't give them the chance, it's that when people I dislike cater to a certain political party, I'm making damn sure I'm not voting for them.

I actually believe this has gone on in politics for many years. Hippies and protesters everywhere...America elects Nixon. Protesters and demonstrations everywhere while rap music fills the airwaves promoting social unrest...America elects George Bush.

Do you see what I'm trying to say?

I agree -- your sentiments sum up why I won't vote Democrat at all, not just Obama.

Perhaps if you have been awakened during the night several times by blaring (c)rap music coming from the apartment next door you would have a better understanding of what Naso is saying here.

Perhaps if you live in a city where every time a Republican wins an election fair and square, (some) black Democrat activists claim it was fraudulent, even if said Republican candidates won by tens of thousands of votes, you would understand.  As much as I hate it when some national figures on the right try to delegitimize the President of the United States with the birther nonsense, I am enraged by the antics of Democrats closer to home.

from the same post:

I consider races to be things like Asian, White (European Descent, Black (African descent), Asia, and Hispanic (this is an odd category).

Wait, wait, wait. In the same post, the guy accuses a poster of being racist and describes what he considers to be "races" ?

So you actually think Kucinich and Paul would implement the same policies ? Huh

Once again, you ignore the specific kind of policies that Napoleon was referring to. I know the English word is completely different from the French word, but I assume you still know it. Smiley

Surely, someone speaking foreign would be expected to understand the word?

I was trying to give him credit here, albeit in a rather idiosyncratic fashion. I'm not seriously suggesting that he wouldn't know the meaning of the word "foreign".

An Australian friend of mine told me yesterday that the thinks sarcasm in Sweden is more subtle than in many other countries leading to frequent misunderstandings. I think this supports that theory. Wink

First post:

Some good news, the White House lowered the expected debt growth.

It will get trampled under the bad news, but the debt ceiling deal helped.

Second series, a page later:

I see some here are enjoying the fact the economy is creating no jobs. Would I be out of line if I said the Republicans want the economy to do bad?

You'd be out of line to say that Republicans want the economy to improve, it's time to call them out on their destructive behavior.

The R's are just commenting on it.  The D's are doing it.

(Well, partly responsible.)

Yeah, all the "commenting" they did with the debt ceiling has nothing to do with today's report.

Medium term, it will help, and it did produce a good result, as noted.

By whom? Your crystal ball?

Am I the only person who remembers

  • when Jesse Helms said that then President Bill Clinton better not come to North Carolina "without a bodyguard"

This simply isn't a threat.

This one actually hurts my eyes...

You know, that picture is especially bad when you consider that Paul is, what, 76 years old? Who knows how strong he is gripping Paul's wrist? That type of thing, especially with photographic evidence, could get you in legal trouble in many places if Paul felt inclined to press charges.

It is hilarious, especially considering the target of his accusation.

Then again, coming from the King of Self-Righteous Land it shouldn't be surprising.

Obama is the most radical, most socialist, left-wing president we have ever had in this country.  He is a true believer in the teachings of Karl Marx and company.  He wants to destroy the country and we will do anything and everything, even vote for people we don't like all that much to turn him out of office before he does anymore damage.  So understand that our intensity is beyond simple anger, its pre-revolutionary.

I was under the impression that many secular Tea Party members are moderates.  These are libertarians, Perot voters, economic voters, small govt voters, etc.  Many small govt voters were anti-war and anti-Iraq, and I would not be surprised if a decent number of Tea Party voters had in fact voted for Obama in 2008, but are now pissed off at Health Care Reform and the economy.

Another day posting, another discussion where good people who believe in freedom have to help Antonio realize he is essentially a social conservative.

Thanks for giving your thoughtful contribution to the debate.

Marshall was a reasonable candidate in a statewide office. Anyone claiming otherwise is untruthful.

Coakley was a reasonable candidate in a statewide office. Anyone claiming otherwise is untruthful.

Obama has quite the talent for destruction.

I agree. He's the worst thing to happen to southern Democrats since Reconstruction.

And the worst thing to happen domestically since the Civil War.  Tongue

And Mark Critz did really well with working class whites a few months before the 2010 midterms.

Frankly I don't know what to say anymore. Despite Obama's unpopularity Democrats are clearly ahead of Republicans when it comes to the general congressional ballot, so all those doom-and-gloom predictions seem to me greatly exaggerated.
It's a very volatile period and whoever makes predictions risks to look like a fool a couple of months down the road.

The D's have not led on the generic ballot for more than two years.

You kinda had it coming, considering you started the "exchange" with this insult: (FYI, I personally don't find calling someone a socially conservative a bad thing, but I could certainly see why someone like Antonio would take it as one)

And Lief, thank you for helping drive Jewish voters away from Obama.
