I would prefer Smith to Mugabe a thousand times over. Ian Smith was not a dictator, just a misguided neocolonialist leader with some slight autocratic tendencies. In other terms, a less annoying version of Hugo Chavez.

Obama's campaign in 2008 was a joke... didn't hurt him.
What is this I don't even

Quote from: Mitt Romney, Economic Heavyweight on April 12, 2012, 08:19:31 pm
Thanks to the twin neanderthals Santorum and Gingrich, especially Santorum, who planted such negative falsehoods about Romney and who alienated large segments of the electorate against any Republican nominee by dwelling on social issues that turned off much of the population, making it more difficult for Romney to focus the electorate's attention on the economy, a field in which Romney excels.
We will see improvements in Romney's numbers once he again focuses the nation's attention on the economy.

I've only read the OP of this thread, but the fact that it has reached over 60 pages qualifies it for enshrinement in this (in)famous institution.

Obama's private-sector job creation record at this stage in his presidency is actually better than GWB's was. The overall job numbers are worse because so many public-sector jobs have been eliminated under Obama, whereas Bush II presided over a massive increase in the public-sector workforce.
The
Clinton recession
and 9/11 was tough to turn into 4% unemployment and 4% GDP growth, but he did manage to make it happen.

This is by far my favorite bit of armchair analysis of the Martin-Zimmerman case:

This is why the US needs to separate, the progessives move to the nicest places and turn them to urban ruin. For all their talk of peace, they prefer drug empires to peaceful communities. But then again, this would never work since liberals have an obsession with controlling everyone else and everything they do.

A gem I found while searching the 2008 board. I don't know if this was a joke or not, and it is not absurd, ignorant, or bad, but plain ironic, if the post was serious.

McCain, Giuliani and Romney are on the "A" list and Santorum isn't even making it on either lists?
Let's face reality, folks. Neither McCain, Giuliani nor Romney will be candidates for President in 2008 and if they are, they won't get far!

Obama. With an 'economy good' media narrative, moderates will stick with the more charismatic candidate, and Romney's image probably won't appeal that much to the working class voters who aren't feeling so good about the economy.
And if the election became close, voter fraud and inner city minority manipulation trumps honest voting. The DNC machine is an unbeatable monster.

Pennsylvania firing someone is not the same as Massachusetts firing someone. Massachusetts is a socialist/liberal social engineer state. So Romney not be able to win re-election is kind of a plus for him, it shows he governed as a conservative.

This has nothing to do with Mitt. I'm saying that the cause is lost, you can't even argue against gay marriage anymore without being called a bigot. According to Gallup, 53% of the country now favors gay marriage, and the younger the voters are, the more liberal they are on the issue.
Personally, I'd rather the conservative movement focus on opposing gay adoptions, but stunningly, people seem even less opposed to that than gay marriage.
Why should two people of the same gender be denied the right to raise a child just because of their sexual orientation? Plus Republicans should be supporting gay adoption. If the party is pro-family, it should be promoting more people having and raising children.
'Sexual orientation' is an absurd term. There is normal sexuality, and abnormal sexuality. Normal "Heterosexual" sexuality is of course the only way to pro-create, virtually all science shows that pro-creation is the only natural point of sexual attraction. This is true whether you choose to pro-create or not. The want and desire to have sex does have a natural purpose. It is not a racial, white and black thing.
Abnormal sexuality includes everything from Homosexuality to Pedophilia. While there is obviously a huge gap in what is socially/morally acceptable, I do not differenciate between the abnormal types biologically. They all have no natural purpose, and therefore are obviously the bi-product of some biological problem. I cannot support putting children into an enviroment with potentially mentally unhealthy people. If homosexuals are to have children, I would want them to have to go through a process that shows their sexual attractions are not too off course.

I like to come in here from time to time to see if there should be any new additions to my ignore list. Looks like we have a winner!

And there are conservatives who will moderate on social issues but not on fiscal ones. That is why it is best to moderate atleast somewhat on both so that you don't impose too much on one side at the expense of the other. That is a how a coalition works. Otherwise, the more imposed upon will begin to leave. The fiscal cons have been drifting away slowly over time. And you guys threaten to leave over the slightest request of sacrifice. That is what I mean by "my way or the way" and "too demanding".
100 percent capitulation to Obama on social issues is unacceptable. We had a moderate candidate who was acceptable to us. Perry. You folks turned him down. We had another moderate candidate who was acceptable to us. Cain. You folks turned him down.
Now you're demanding that we social conservatives give up everything on the issues we care most about. No sale. I'm tired of 'working with conservatives' who have no desire to work with me.
You are mistaken. We will simply be asking for capitulation on social issues between now and November. We need your side to be quiet about social issues so that the focus is solely upon economics. Why? Because that's how we win in November.
I guarantee a Romney Administration will be much more favorable for social conservatives than a second term for Barack Obama.
Romney lives the good Christian life. He believes in the
sanctity of marriage
and life. But that does not mean he wants to lose by talking about these things between now and November. There will be plenty of time to talk about such things over the course of a Romney Administration.

I think if Obama was able to beat Hillary in MO, he'd have a decent shot of beating Romney, but only if he wins by the same or a larger margin.
Something tells me that Obama's 2008 primary win wasn't on the back of swing voters.
Yes, thank you for having the decency to admit that Obama won the primary because of reverse racism.
