A sociology degree would give you a better understanding of politics than PoSci.

I have neither.  I'm an unsuccessful PR guy, mostly out of inherent laziness.

That's one of those phrases like Jumbo Shrimp or Pretty Ugly or Act Naturally, isn't it?

For fun, of course. I did it so I could follow in the footsteps of my hero, Alvin Greene.

Nah, academic political science is most applied statistics.

Anyway, I minored in it.

jmfcst feels privileged that you chose him to trip on while getting stoned...just don't go jumping out any windows, for not only might jmfcst feel guilty for a fleeting instant, it could be dangerous to those down below.

Nah, but I'll either Double Major in it with History or just take a bunch of classes in it without an official degree.

I thought about minoring in it, but didn't really see the point. I took a few classes in it and got rid of a few electives that way. Also took a class on the 2008 election during the election. The head of the Orange County Republican and Democratic parties came to visit. Apparently John Campbell was coming too, but he bitched out. The Democrats came dressed in shorts and Hawaiian shirts and the Republicans came in suit and tie, including the 14 year old boy they brought with them (sex slave?). Pretty awesome.

Republicans brought a 14 year old boy? Not very subtle. But I would have expected younger.

Caseworker, actually.  I was surprised to see the "liberals" were ones on favor of putting everyone in welfare in camps.  Smiley

I abandoned that little mistake in my life when I canned it, and for my 4th year of college went to the graduate school of business.  I had had enough of game theory and other assorted and sundry boring and terminally useless junk that they have the gall to characterize as an "academic discipline."  It is nothing of the sort.

I agree with Torie. It's pseudo-intellectualism at its near worst (maybe Philosophy can trump it), but as a Poli-Sci major, one gets to spend their nights drinking while still retaining good grades. Whereas other, more intellectual majors, such as mechanical engineering, organic chemistry, and molecular and cellular biology, well, don't. The Political Science major is the life of the glamorous. At least until you graduate and find yourself working at McDonald's.
