Backround:
In 2008 Berluscons was elected President, winning against the former Mayor of New York Walter Veltron.
As President, Berluscons, in a first time make some popular Economics measures (tax reductions), but in a second moment his Presidence start to loss popularity. A sex scandal put him in a difficoult position, and then a low GDP growth and problems with the law causes some damages at His popularity.
The Democratic Party coalition is characterized by some internal divisions that causes some problems.
Last local elections was won by the Democratic Party coalition.

I could see the Northern League representing the Northeast... A better parallel, I think.

Interesting, I'd like to see some maps. Wink

Actually, I think that if there were a "Northern League" equivalent in the US it would probably represent... the South. It's the most particularist region and history gives it sense.

Why do Idaho and Alaska vote for PD ? Huh Also, I'd see the PD stronger in the Rust Belt (PCI legacy) and weaker in the West.

Stan, if I may intrude in your thread, here's how I'd see the 1976 election going :

Christian Democracy : 38,71%, 318 EVs
Comunist Party of America : 34,37%, 220 EVs

This keeping the RL percentages, which of course would be just impossible. Grin

The existence of a Lega Nord in the northern United States is quite problematic. Firstly, the entire existence of a regionalist party outside the South is problematic given how strong of a nation-state the US has always been (unlike Italy) and that there has never been any particularist or regionalist identity in the northern US or north Midwest. Only the South could see a similar party, though obviously with different objectives. Instead of hating the other side because they're poors, they'd hate the other side because they're rich libruls.

Idaho is like the Italian Region of Molise (infact I've designed the Idaho as the homestate of Anthony Peters, the alter-ego of Antonio Di Pietro). Molise is a conservative Region, but at last elections Center-Left was in majority because is the home-region of Di Pietro.
Alaska is the more similar Region of the Trentino-Alto Adige, where is active the Sudtiroler Volks Partei, the party of the German-speaking Italian of the Bolzano Province.
Rust Belt is like the Milan's hinterland: in 70s and 80s was strong the PCI, but in 2008 was in majority the PdL and the Northern League.
