I´ve noticed the last few days that the Forum is really slow, it won't let me log in for 5 minutes or not log out. It also takes forever to open a site. Sometimes it works for a while and then I have to wait a really long time again. Anyone else with these problems ?

Yeah, last few days have been quite bad (occasionally, often for an hour or so at a stretch.) Indeed, last 45-minutes-but-two were bad... we'll see how long it lasts now.

EDIT: Lasted til I hit post here. Back to horrid.

The more posts we have, the slower the Forum will run.

I'm sure Dave would be more than happy to purchase more bandwidth to increase performance if some of you who are not paying members were willing to sign up for membership. Smiley

Not to mention the access to tremendous amounts of data and maps that the $28/year ($17/year for students) gives you.

Same here on the slows,

besides going back on the how to, has anybody done a trace on their query route, is their bottle neck somewhere?... seems to be working OK now with 200+ users.

If theirs upc, i think its called, server load, the owner of the domain will be notified by the host, especially if this domain is dragging down other domain owners, just my 2 cents.

The What-If boards and Presidential boards are unique to this forum, and should be spared. I'd be in favor of getting rid of any old hackish threads in the US General Discussion (which is most of it), and all the threads about banning so and so (with the benefit of making the useful stuff on this board more accessible). Also I wouldn't have a problem with deleting any empty quoting on site.

I'm looking into upgrading the server.
I have also consolidated all of the Prediction boards into one (apparently, number of boards is one of the items that slows down the software).  I'll look into more improvements as well.  About every two years, I need to make server changes to keep up.  Its about time again.
