I am more curious as to how Cancer won the democratic nomination? Did it compete with any other fatal diseases?

Yes, it competed with genital warts and lyme disease, just barely beating out genital warts. I mean, I'm not surprised Cancer won though. Who could beat anyone with the slogan "Yes We Cancer." That's clever for them to use their name as a play on words.
