I'm afraid it will be you who will understand on Sunday, when the 49ers send Manning back to New York Jersey empty-handed. Smiley

The Giants may stack the line and force Alex Smith to beat them. That is what I would do, anyway. Get pressure on Smith on third downs, and he will fold harder than Matt Ryan did. He will take sacks if the game is close, but if the Niners' D gives up a lead of 9 or more points late in the third, Smith will start taking chances and probably throwing picks. Niners need a huge game on D and/or enormous feats on the ground. I would bet against the latter, but who knows with that D.

The Giants are notorious road warriors. On the other hand, the Packers were really, really off out there. Still, the Giants are much easier opponents than the Packers would have been.

Alex Smith's not an elite quarterback, but he doesn't make mistakes and try to force things when they aren't there. If there's one thing I'm absolutely not worried about, it's interceptions. They're not going to happen.

I was reading in the paper today that Alex Smith has had the fifth lowest single-season interception percentage of all time (obviously with some unstated stipulations to weed out guys who threw one attempt). He has thrown five picks on 445 attempts this season, for an interception on 1.1% of passing attempts.

The 49ers vs. Giants game is a tough game as a Dallas Cowboys fan.  We hate the Giants, but don't want the 49ers to get their 6th Super Bowl ring before Dallas does.  It is a difficult situation to be in.  I would rather, though, San Francisco win as I still remember the rivalry between San Fran and Dallas in the 80s and early 90s.

Brady's legacy will be damaged heavily if he loses to Manning and the Giants yet again.

Seriously? His legacy is damaged if he reaches yet another Super Bowl? He'd still be 3-2 in that tiny sample size.

Yeah, I would say another loss in the Super Bowl is kind of a "reverse Elway": Remembered for losing his last two rather than winning his first three.

As for the Giants, Manning is apparently sick and missed practice. I am retracting my prediction about the Giants. This may yet be the 49ers' year. Darn horseshoe up their butt this year!

an NYG-NE Super Bowl perhaps would grant me my fourth sports title series between my two least favorite teams in their respective leagues (ATL-NYY 99; NYG-NE 07; NYY-PHI 09).  not totally clear if I dislike the Patriots more than, say, Pittsburgh, but it's far too close for comfort.

I don't think I could watch a Giants-Pats SB.  I supported the Giants the first time but there's no underdog enjoyment now.

I think Ravens are my first choice, but I'll support the Niners over New England.

I mean, legacy's an inherently stupid thing to talk about, because it's about how nitwit fans perceive things rather than any sort of objective look at what things actually happened. But this is especially stupid. If anything, the post-Super Bowl title years have enhanced Brady's legacy; he's no longer just the Bill Russell, "all he does is win" benefactor of great defenses and teams around him. He's long had the championships; the last five years have given him the stats. He's pretty damn historically secure.

I think it will be Patriots vs 49ers in Super Bowl 46

-The Ravens really don't matchup all that well with the Patriots. Belichick is a douche, but he is one smart fellow. He built the offense to beat teams who run 3-4 defenses, those TE's force teams to play in their base defense which means teams like the Ravens will have to keep their heavy set Lb's out there to cover Gronk and Hernandez, which they physically can't. I know people like to point to the Steelers win, but Pittsburgh also have Troy Polamlau who can physically matchup with the TE's.

It should be a close game, but I like the Patriots to win by a touch down.

-The Giants/Niners game is going to be close, but I like the 49ers. I don't see their defense having the mental breakdowns the Packers had, on top of that they are more fundamentally sound then the Packers. I also see the Giants turnover the ball at least twice,  Eli is playing well but he still makes 2-3 dumb throws a game and I see the Niners capitalizing on that. Jacobs and Bradshaw are also fairly careless with the ball, so I wouldn't rule out a fumble or two.

Again, it should be close and I wouldn't be surprise to see the Giants win this game, but I still will give the edge to the home team.

Cundiff missed the 30-yard field goal with 0:11 left to give the Patriots their 5th SB appearance in 11 years.

This is some good stuff. The dude must live for the Ravens 24/7. He does sound like Sam Kinison too, so that made the vid even better.

Wow, glad I'm not a Ravens or Niners fan today.  $hit would have gotten broke.

Williams and Cundiff with ridiculous choke jobs.   The Niners defense was just incredible and to lose like that hurts.  Not sure why they got away from running in traditional sets.

Unlike Tweed, I'm a Jets fan who supports the Giants as a distant second favorite. I'm happy to see them win and hope they can beat the Pats.

Boys, you know I'm an Eagles fan but, just like in XLII, it's important to unite and stop the forces of evil. Go Giants.

I'm inclined to feel the same way, but I'm more apathetic than last time.

At times, it is hard to deal with this situation. The Giants have hurt my family and my mental state. Lucifer Tom Brady must prevail.
