the thinking on JI.com is that the Jets needed to bring Schotty (they call him 'Schitty' typically) back for Sanchez' third year but he'd be on the ropes.

Love the obvious lack of confidence in Sanchez.  No calling TO before the punt.  a RIDICULOUS direct snap attempt to McKnight on 3rd and 5.  I dont think we have tried to throw ball deep down field all year.    This is just gross.....

Sanchez is just your typical Carroll USC QB.  Things were so easy for him in college that he can't handle pressure, tight coverage, or adversity.

The Jets should trade for Kyle Orton.  He's not doing anything in Den.

Nice job, Jets.  Why rush a guy who can't throw the ball?  This just baffles me to no end.

Btw, Denver's defense is pretty good, but when is Brian Schottenheimer going to get fired (having asked that for at least 5 years now)?

Because they are retarded.  Typical Jet loss.  Pathetic.

Dude faces #4 and #5 on the all time career passing rating list over the next four weeks. And #28, Jay Cutler. We'll see.

Load 9 in the box and have the DEs play contain on the outside with a LB spying the middle.  I just stopped Tim Tebow.  You're welcome NFL DCs.

Coughlin will be back if NYG wins the NFC East which appears very likely.

Ownership thinks that at 65 years old, Coughlin is too old and they will buy him out of his one year contract, or maybe even trade him to another team.

After some contemplation and discussion with friends, I have decided that the one issue contributing to the fact that the Eagles blow harder than anyone could have ever expected is that they are no longer a Philadelphia team. For months and even years the new mantra of the Eagles with relation to the fans has been to cancel them out and treat them like opposing fans. The Eagles aren't tough enough to hang with the expectations. They think they can escape the spectacular pressure of playing in Philly by pretending it's not there, but in reality they're simply not tough enough to handle it. Since he's been here Andy's been trying to put together a flash-bang ooh-aah football team despite the sports culture present in the city. This is a dirty, smash mouth, knock-down drag-out town that expects their teams to personify that. The Broad St Bullies, the Bounty Bowl, the Body Bag Game. These were all right up Philly's alley. Andy thinks he can get around that and change the culture of Philly sports with a flashy celebrity team. No Eagles fans give a flying fudge who is on their team as long as they can kick the living sh!t out of Dallas and New York. We can't do that. We're the prancing fairies of the NFL that are supposed to be able to flutter away from trouble. That to me is the root of all the franchise's problems. And you can see it in player interviews and Andy's constant FUs to the city with his bullsh!t "I need to do a better job" statements. Players have been coming out of the woodwork (Avant, Jackson, Kolb) complaining about the fans saying that their strategy during home games is to ignore them. What happened to players like Dawkins and Runyan that channeled that pressure into absolute dominance? The players we have now are only here because they thought they could swing by, cash in, and pick up a Super Bowl ring while they're here.

And those have been my thoughts regarding this garbage team for a while. Finally gathered all my general thoughts and you get to see it all! Weeeee Tongue

How many Super Bowl rings did those "Philadelphia teams" get you?

I love that apparently football didn't exist prior to the Super Bowl. They won us three championships and have fared much better in the post-season than the new Eagles. The last couple playoffs have been terrible while the first half of the decade for the Eagles was one of the most successful periods for any NFL team ever. Only the Patriots and Colts were better  in the 2000s and only because they won the big game. Playing that way gives us a much better chance at getting back to the Super Bowl. It took us one game away 5 times in 8 years.

Pre-Reid, the Eagles were the Lions of the East (ignoring the Cardinals, who never worth mentioning).  Reid is the best coach in your franchise's history.  Any other look is just clouded nostalgia.

Yes, I'm aware of that. That's why I've mentioned the early 2000s in particular. We had a top-notch coach and a philosophy that still worked. Reid and McNabb had been clamoring for a flashy offense all along but we still had Johnson carrying the team with the dominant defense. Now that he's unfortunately gone, everything he had done has gone to hell and Reid finally has his flashy offense that doesn't work. So two bad halves because Andy finally got what he wanted (in fact rumor had it back in the day that Reid was infatuated with Vick from early on). Yes, he's by far our best coach but he's gone too far in trying to change the culture of the team and the city. That doesn't work. If we had Reid coaching Buddy's teams I have no doubt we'd be considered one of the best teams of the era rather than just the bullies that couldn't get it done.

The Eagles are losing thanks to a mixture of bad luck and not actually being that good to begin with, not because they aren't "a Philadelphia team". fezzy's posts sound like they came straight from WIP.
