I don't really like their style but you gotta give it to the Lions. Congrats on making the post-season two years after not winning a game.

I think this pretty much knocks San Diego out doesn't it?

Damn, that was an intense finish. Our rushing defense was terrible there, but at least we got another W. Akers also broke an important record today, so that's good.

Yes and I am quite happy about it. Now the Jets just have to get mathematically knocked out . . .

David Akers is pretty good at the whole field goal kicking thing.

Good for Brees. He handled it with humility, too. I like when classy guys (i.e., not Tom Brady) succeed.

Yes it was, I seen the guy play back in his high school days because he was from my area and I knew the guy would make it one day.

Congratulations to Mr. Brees but Mr. Brady will be tying or breaking that record this Sunday.

I doubt it,  he might pass Marino but he won't pass Brees, at least this year

Either way, for two guys in the same season to break a record that has held for that long is pretty incredible.

We're trying really hard to forget that season/era...at least I am.  As a Cardinals fan I'm even more embarrassed.

Why should we forget it? It happened. They used a lively ball in the '20s and '30s, too, but we don't throw out what Babe Ruth did.

I'm too young to really remember the 1994 strike, but the Sosa/McGwire race was intense! So much fun and received omnipresent media attention in my Chicagoland oasis. Definitely the glory days of our waning civilization. I was talking to this 6th grader the other day and he had never played N64 or any console with a cartridge. Granted, I was playing N64 the other day and most games are a lot worse than we remember them, but come on. Who the frick starts their gaming experience with MW3 or Skyrim and not Super Mario Bros. or Duck Hunt?

Marino's 1984 performance is far more impressive than what Brees and Brady have accomplished this year (and in the past with regards to Brady's 50 TDs in 2007) considering the pass-friendly environment of the present versus 1984. Then again, I am biased. Marino circa 1984 would probably put up over 6000 yards and 60 TDs in this era. I mean, watch this video and tell me that Drew Brees or Tom Brady are really on Marino's level this season:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm3ErTOp0JQ

You can't even follow the ball on some of those passes they're so lightening fast.

I respect Brady, Brees and Rodgers, and think they're obviously the best active QBs (Peyton Manning, too, if he recovers). But I still think Marino is the best QB of all-time. I think Montana was better than current elite, too (Hard to say if Elway, Young and Favre were better in their heyday, though).

As a Cardinals fan with integrity I'm embarrassed by the steroids era and the part my team played in it.  I'd like to forget it.

Why are NFL cheerleaders only earning 50$ per game ?

That's about the minimum wage when they cheer for 5 hours ... Tongue

I always thought a NFL cheerleader would earn something like 3000-5000$ a month - at least !

With integrity? What does that even mean? Do Rogers Hornsby's Triple Crowns also embarrass you? He played for the Cardinals, too.

They also make money doing other events on the side, but it's not a high-paying job.

Can we end the Sanchez era, please?   I wanted Schottenheimer gone yesterday.  Joke team.
