Since 2008? Wow...so many candidates to pick from in that time.

Well yes actually. A lot ran this year.

I guess there was Pawlenty, but he was more like Tommy Thompson.

Perry is the only candidate to run and lead national polls this year. None of the others are comparable.

Actually in that sense Perry might be worse than Thompson because Thompson never led or was taken seriously once his campaign actually began.

Whether he's failed remains to be seen.

Perry hasn't exactly "failed" yet in the GOP primary.  He had his honeymoon period and it wore off

Way, way way too early to know. Obama was getting crushed by Clinton at this point in 2007, and his first few debates were pretty bad too. Remember when everyone derided him when he said he would go into Pakistan to take out terrorists if he had the intel?

Thompson never led the polls. If that is the metric your going to use.

Now Giuliani led the polls.

If you are going to by the size and breadth of fall, Bachmann's fall was much more profound.

For an epic fail, the candidate actually has to have been up at some point. Pawlenty never got off the floor.

He now seems to be consistently tied or behind Cain. I wonder how much longer the media can pretend this is a Romney-Perry contest.

Given how insanely fickle the Anyone But Romney crowd have been I wouldn't be surprised to see Perry rebound and end up leading the national polls again at some point before collapsing. Again.

Newt Gingrich is also due his turn as shiny Tea Party darling for a month, so maybe he'll start making up ground in polls.

Yeah, I think it is still early to call it.  Romney has never polled above the mid/high twenties which is embarrassing for someone that has been in campaign mode for 7 years.  I wonder what that does to your self esteem.

Maybe he won't be President, but inside his "nhead" retreat, Rick Perry is da boss!

We have a long way to go before we can honestly judge the success of the Perry campaign.

The media really seems to be living in another world right now.

Cain hasn't been up in the polls that long, the media may be waiting to see if the Cain boost is more long term rather than a short term jump
