Would that essentially kill Perry's chances?

Hmm, I wonder?

Cain wins the first state, Romney wins the second and the 3rd just so happens to be right next to Cain's home state of South Carolina and you are curious if it would kill Perry's chances?

No, not as much as if Romney won Iowa.

Dixieland will hold the nose and vote for a Smurf against that smurfing Mormon Yankee!

I think this is exactly the reason why Perry should stay in even if he loses Iowa (meaning he gets 2nd or 3rd)

It would be a worse situation for Perry than if Bachmann won Iowa, Cain would be stronger in SC than Bachmann.  Of course, it would be disasterous for him if Romney won Iowa.  The momentum would kill Perry.

Uhh...it's your party that doesn't want to vote for a Mormon. Maybe you guys should work on that. And I'm not totally convinced they are comfortable voting for a black, but at least he's a Christian!

And our friend from Brazil was joking, just in case you couldn't tell.

Joking or not, I honestly don't think there is ever an appropriate time to use that word.

Right because we all know that Obama is leading Romney in the heart of Dixie. Last time I checked, Romney comfortably beats Obama in Alabama, leads him in Virginia, South Carolina, and so on. It's more of a culture issue than religious. Southerners will vote for Romney in the general election, but are supportive of people like Perry, Cain, Gingrich, and Palin because they are a better culturally fit for the region, not because of bigotry. I'm sure there are a few people that would never vote for Romney because of his religion, but they certainly aren't the majority in the South.

It means the Anti-Christ (Cain) has come with his sly mark of the beast 999 plan for peace and deceived good Christian folk.

Words are not evil, don't worry, they're just letters. What matters is context.

Outside of a Mark Twain novel, the word has few respectable uses. This statement isn't one, and the stereotypes about Republicans and Southerners that the word invokes in this context just serve to make it more offensive.

Why?  History tells us that both of them got lynched back in the day, and most of the time, for pretty good reasons.

No, Perry's respectable 2nd place finish would keep him in the race.
But Romney finishing 4th would be a problem for his campaign.

Romney's Mormonism is an issue, that is why he can't get traction. Trust me. Of course he's still better than a black democrat.....

FYI: If someone swears or uses highly offensive words, it would help if other people didn't then quote the post in question.  It just means that I have to do more work!

Being Mormon simply gives people pause, but no one really believes Romney is very religious...Romney's flipflopping is why he can't get traction - no one trusts him.
