Agreed.  I'm not sure what that has to do with what I posted, but yeah, currently most Americans are fat and/or feel like they are too good to work for a living.

Well, even people who are in good health or motivated to work would get crushed by a few hours picking tomatoes in Belle Glade, Fla. in summer. It's not work for amateurs of any kind.

For the first few days, sure.  Humans are actually pretty adaptable.  I was a chubby white kid from the suburbs when I started hanging sheetrock in Atlanta, it was hard.  In a few months I was in the best shape of my life.  There are millions of white and black Americans that work just as hard everyday as farm workers and many millions of more that could if properly motivated.  Farm work is hard, but it's no harder than working a shovel or moving heavy things around by hand.  It's dangerous, but it's no more dangerous than road work or collecting garbage.

I'm still not sure what this has to do with me being for farm workers being paid a living wage.

and on preview I see jmfcst beat me to it.....ahh brevity.

Alabama schoolkids have already shown themselves averse to education. If anything they should be kicked out to give new immigrants a chance where Alabama kids have failed.

I think the biggest issue is not that farm labor is too "hard" for most Americans (see, for example, the plenty of white and black construction workers who do difficult manual labor) but it's more that most young people that can do these types of jobs are either unwilling or unable to move into rural areas. City/suburban dwellers have to uproot their entire lives and face a huge culture shock in order to work in agriculture. Hispanic migrant labor, on the other hand, have already faced these problems moving to the United States in the first place, so it's not an issue for them.

jmfcst made this headline and intended for it to be read positively. I can't even begin to comprehend that kind of thinking.

Sure you can.  Just think only of yourself... and your family, as far as they are an extension of yourself.  Everybody else is a threat to you, so you should use government force to disappear them.

Unless of course the government wants to use force to implement progressive ideals, then you put up one holy hell of a bitchfest and whine and moan and yell and get out the pitchforks and act completely butthurt and demand "states' rights"... until a new conservative issue comes up again and federal force is once again warranted.

There is nobody more afraid of the world around him than a middle aged conservative white male.  When you see everything as a threat, it seems easy to cheer seeing children pulled out of schools with no prospects for education all in the name of "law enforcement."

We should legalize the farm workers and illegalize the 99 weekers.

Correct.  And the pay really sucks.  Because they hire illegals.

The very idea that certain people in this thread are rejoicing about childrens' lives being messed up because of the family they were born into is ..., well, just plain sickening.

The sad thing is I recall this being one of the issues jmfcst was more reasonable on, I do recall him not getting along with CARLHAYDEN after saying he wasn't willing to deport millions of people.
