"I was po' before I was poor"... clever!  And sociolinguistic!  I like it.

They are comparing their humble roots. Lets see Romney jump into that one

Sounded like that anyway.  Came right after Santorum was talking about the importance of two-parent homes, so it makes sense.

It is clever. But it's also a Cain stock phrase.

Wait.  "Europe has more middle class mobility than the US.  Therefore we need to make the US even less like Europe."  Derp? Huh

We were all poor back then.  I was poor.  My wife was poor.  The maid was poor.  The butler was poor...

RICK SANTORUM: Economic mobility is higher in Europe, so to catch back up with them we need to cut taxes and repeal Obamacare.

So does Mitt.

Go figure.

I don't see Romney's "WE NEED A STRONG MILITARY TO BE A GREAT COUNTRY" rhetoric playing out very well for him, at least in the general election.  It isn't 1980, anymore.

1. Romney, with a generally solid performance, though defense of TARP could come back to bite him
2. Paul, who really got a chance to hold his own
3. Cain, who took solid punches but got to be the center of attention
4. Huntsman, who did well but didn't stand out
5. Perry, who only did alright - but turned in his best performance yet
6. Gingrich, whose "jail the Democrats" was a little TOO strong
7. Santorum, who landed attacks on Cain but sounded too angry
8. Bachmann, who was irrelevant and wacky - especially with the 666 thing

Romney won. The others didn't. Grades:

Romney - B+
Gingrich - B
Paul - B
Cain - B-
Santorum - C
Huntsman - C-
Perry - D+
Bachmann - D

Cain is so incredibly naive. He really doesn't have a clue.
