I would suspect Jesus somehow would not really care about politics.

I think he would have a mixed number of opinions. Probably anti-Iraq, anti-abortion.

Jesus would take one look at world politics today and quickly turn around and leave us to our destruction

I guess we have to keep in mind that the political situation of the early Roman Empire - especially under Tiberius at the time of Jesus' ministry - was hardly a good model.  Jesus made clear that the law of man meant little to him, and that he answered to a higher authority.

Still, render unto Caesar what is Caesar's Smiley

I don't know his mother had a teenage pregnancy and he and his father were members of the Nazareth Local 3 Caprenters Union.   Sounds like a democrat to me:)

...or a member of any political party.

This is a really stupid question.

He'd be both.  If he can be both God and man, it should be easy to a Republican and a Democrat.  :-)

I think Jesus would be above politics since his message transends political ideology, or race, or language, or culture. It would be hard to place any historical figure into todays society but I somehow suspect that Jesus would be above politics. Just because a man wants to help people does it make him a Democrat and just because a man likes freedom and god doesn't make him a Republican. We shouldn't try to put a man who was the son of God into a category.

Seeing as I have an extremly low knowledge of everything about him, I really don't know, except that he is very beloved by both Jerry Falwell and Al Sharpton, so I figure the battle for him would be bloody. It's likely better not to tarnish his reputation in partisan politics. If he did join a party, it would have absolutly no effect on me, although if he joined the Democrats I'd be freaked out to see Falwell at a Democratic rally.
