-The most popular state with Democrats is Massachusetts (49/9) while the least popular is Texas. With Republicans the most popular is Texas (66/9), while the least popular is Illinois.
Are the past two Presidential elections driving this? Arizona is also unpopular with Democrats (that might have something to do with its immigration bill though).
Interestingly, Arkansas is narrowly unpopular (20/23) with Democrats despite Clinton being from there. Are these people who are aware of its big swing to Republicans? Or just general anti-Southern-ness?

MS and IL I can understand, but why is Utah underwater with popularity? Mormons have got to be the friendliest people in the country.

I'm guessing that their politics (particularly with their influence on Prop 8 ) have something to do with this.

I'm not sure why New Mexico is so popular. There isn't much of jobs there or many people, populist state.

Most people have met a Mormon, or never realized they've met one.

Agreed. I'm also curious to see Oregon and Washington state's numbers. I wonder if they're similar or if they differ much.

Can't help but notice that a lot of people won't play PPP's game here...
The popular states that surprise me are Indiana and Maryland, as well as that Pennsylvania is so high.
This will be a very interesting project.

We'll see
I have to admit I've always been jealous of Washington's nickname. 'The Evergreen state' sounds pretty awesome and what do we get here for Oregon? F**king beavers?

I read it as they're doing one third of the states each month so the first third was released last week and I think that means the 2nd third will be released in November 15-19 with the last third being released in December 15-19.

I love this idea, but it'd be even better if they had crosstabs of state approval by state!
Quote from: TexasDemocrat on October 15, 2011, 08:27:17 am
Why is Alabama more popular than Mississippi?
Looking at the crosstabs, Democrats dislike both states equally, with independents being pretty close as well; Republicans approve of AL a good bit more than MS, probably because they like their new immigration laws.

Mississippi is also historically more embarrassing, though Alabama provides fierce competition in that regard.

27/17 for MN.. about par for the course... most people go "Minne-whata?" But we are sufficiently Americana with our Wheaties, Post-it notes, the Pillsbury Doughboy, and the Jolly Green Giant.
