Now, that's a landslide!
It's not official yet, though.

Eight votes?

I think we can officially call this election a tie. This is amazing.

Should there just be a re-vote?

A re-vote is the only way to make everyone happy.

I'm not looking forward to Republicans bitching about this. Shut up, please.

Frankly, a re-vote is a bad precedent to set for future elections.  I would prefer one side to get mad and set out their frustrations for the next election, no matter who they are.

We'll see what happens.

If Rossi is smart, which I think he is, he'll concede and plan his next election and win with a larger margin (not that that is saying much.)

Hmm, I wonder if he'll really run for senate like some have rumored.

If Gregoire didn't win the recount, expect some more missing votes to be discovered.  The Dems will bitch until they win this one.

Possibly.  He would be about the best Republican candidate against Cantwell, probably, and would definitely have a shot.

It's standard Dem policy.  I wouldn't expect a close race to be without it.

Afghanistan has much cleaner elections than Florida. Or, me fears, than Washington.

Way to blow it way out of proportion. Global Dictator makes more sense.

Yeah, I know. Afghanistan was something of an exaggeration. Though my statement is much closer to the truth than "Everything about the way elections are held in Florida is just fine."

Almost every election has its share of dirtiness. Humans aren't perfect and therefore no election can be perfect.

?
They got very high turnout in some areas, very low in others, no doubt due to massive community pressure/intimidation.
But I've never heard there are any problem with the most basic points, ie, the voter register, the actual counting of votes, the prevention of ballot box stuffing...at least not since the Army marched in 35 years ago.

The problem in Northern Ireland is "Vote Early, Vote Often"...

So they do have ballot box stuffing?

More or less. All four big parties have people in most constituencies who vote early in the morning, change their clothes etc and go back to vote again later. Sometimes several more times.
It's particulary bad in North Belfast o/c...

In rural areas there are (this is true, BTW) people that go around from polling station to polling station in buses...

Mind you, since the big registration purge a few years back, things aren't as bad as they were.
