NY Times - "Cain Proposes Electrified Border Fence"

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally.

The remarks, which came at two campaign rallies in Tennessee as part of a barnstorming bus tour across the state, drew loud cheers from crowds of several hundred people at each rally. At the second stop, in Harriman, Tenn., Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration.

Is this another joke? If we assume that Cain is a serious candidate, is this a proposal that should be taken seriously?

I like the idea of an electric fence that can sense when it is being pulled on/tampered with and send a message to agents to the exact location of the attempted entry....very East German

Yes.  When someone suggests building an electric fence hundreds of miles long in order to kill civilians it should be taken seriously... very, very seriously.

i think you're confusing trying to keep people in a country, with trying to keep people from coming in....by your definition, any property protected by an electric fence is own by a fascist...maybe you think my own home, protected by two bloodhounds and an array of guns is owned by a fascist also.
