It all started at the fields of Bosworth on a memorable day of August 22, 1485...

Richard III: A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse... Where's a f**king horse?!
His Majesty was pissed off. Not really about the outcome of battle with this traitor, the Duke of Richmond. In fact, it was pretty hard to get any hindsight in a field, occupied by screaming and murdering each other people. The point was: King without a horse is worse than King with any pants.
Then, King Richard saw what he was looking foe so eagerly: a nice horse waiting by the three. Because no knight would possibly leave his horse alone and still being alive, the King could take it with free conscience.
Richard's mistake was that Tom Dent, who took a break from horseback reading in order to make a poo in bushes, was not a knight. In fact he was a thief and a murderer, who escaped well-deserved gallows to the continent, where he served for last ten years as a mercenary, working mainly for the Venetian Republic in the Mediterranean. He returned to his homeland recently, as a soldier in Duke of Richmond army, made up mostly by the people like him.
And the nice horse, normally only wealth knight could have afford, once belonged to some nobleman in Spanish Netherlands, who was really unlucky to encounter Tom on the latter's way back home.
Dent: MY F**KING HORSE!
He grabbed his axe and, with pants down, he ran toward a King and, before Richard could even react, Dent knocked him to the ground.
Richard III: (with a blade on his throat) DON'T KILL ME! I'm King Richard...
Dent: YOU WANTED TO STEAL MY F**KING HORSE, ASSHOLE.
Richard III: For the love of Christ, I can pay a ransom. I'm the King...
Dent: And I'm the f**king Holy Roman Emperor.
Richard III: No, good man, wait... AAA...
Dent: (kicking the King's head) And now I have a crap in my pants, asshole.
After making sure horse is properly attached to a tree, Tom Dent returned to the bushes, to finish his thing.

After battle ended and those from victorious Duke of Richmond's army who survived a slaughter gathered in the camp, Tom Dent learned, to his great suprise, that he did not kill just some horse stealer, but King Richard III, hated enemy, himself.

Tom Dent, a son of a London brewer with bounty of his head for previous deeds, was greatly rewarded by the Duke, soon the new King Henry VII, first Tudor monarch of England: a knighthood and a large lands in Northumberland

For the rest of his live, Sir Tom Dent lived a good and peaceful life of wealthy and respected, even more respected due to the fact he cut the bad King's head off, in his estate. While dying in 1507, he couldn't know that he'll go down with history as founder of one of the most powerful English, and then American, families.
