Obama: 287
McCain: 251

Obama still wins, but in a race that's a lot closer than many predicted. Would Democrats still be disappointed and, if so, would it be justified?

I doubt any democrat would be dissatisfied as long as Obama wins. It would still appear as a pretty incredible event. Probably people would blame it on Bradley effect.

Also, you got the EV numbers wrong because you used the 2012 calculator (with a new apportionment) rather than the 2008 one.

Interesting note about the Bradley effect-it was the strongest in the Clinton states in the South, where Clinton supporters bitter about her loss combined with subdued racism made those states not only swing to McCain, but do better for him than polling showed.

It would be a pretty pathetic win over Mr "The fundamentals of the economy are strong". I don't think that even Hoover said something that stupid.

I don't envision any scenario with McCain losing the election but winning New Hampshire.

Which states would you expect to swing his way before NH?

I'd definitely guess VA and CO. Maybe NV and IA, too.

Those you mentioned except Nevada.

Obama: 273
McCain: 265

A last minute surprise/surge for McCain allows him to hold Missouri, Ohio and Florida...but Colorado gives Obama the White House.

I expected Obama to win, but never realistically thought Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana, Ohio, Nevada AND Florida would all go his way in the end.

I thought in the last two weeks that if Obama was going to win... he'd win in a blowout or not at all.

I would have been surprised since I had him winning about 345.  But as long as he got 270, I was going to be happy that night.
