I think DeMint will wait until after Romney wins NH to endorse him, just to be on the safe side. 

Basically, DeMint will bargain for nothing less than the VP slot if he helps Romney win SC, thereby blocking Perry or Cain from winning SC.  I don't see what other position he would be interested in, maybe Secretary of State, etc. 

Of course, DeMint though McCain was dead and Romney would win easily in 2008, but now it looks like Mitt will win some primaries in 2012.

If DeMint endorses Mitt, there is a handshake deal for VP, guarantee it.

If DeMint supports Romney, he'll do it behind closed doors IMO. A public endorsement would cause massive damage to his status as TP patron saint. Remember when the Democratic establishment UDI'd from the Clintons 4 years ago (as documented in Game Change), they mostly did it in private and only the Kennedys went public.

It would be a bigger deal than 2008 because then Romney was the more right-wing alternative to McCain. Now, Romney's running to the left of the field.
