Just saw this. Cain's rise is honestly one of the strangest major political events I've ever witnessed. Very exciting though!

No surprise here. Still, should Cain win SC, he could go on to the nomination, if history proves correct once again.

This has the makings of a historic landslide about it.

Republican candidates who have won South Carolina have gone on to win the nomination.

Look it up.

Look it up.

Only since 1980.  In 1976, SC went for Reagan, but Ford won the nomination.  Whereas states like New York, Florida, and Illinois have always gone for the winner since at least 1976.

The fact is that in most of the presidential contests of the last 30+ years, the GOP has had a really strong frontrunner who wins the bulk of the primaries.  So there are quite a few states who have gone with the winner every time or almost every time.

There are just a few weirdos, like Alaska, Arizona, and Michigan, who have a history of going against the grain.  Wink

That was before the SC primary was formed. It was a caucus state back then and was not focused on at all.

Sure, but my point stands.  Lots of states have always gone with the winner since 1980.
