PARIS -- French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and her husband, the French president Nicholas Sarkozy, arrived at a Paris hospital Wednesday, fueling rumors that the birth of their first baby together was imminent.

Security was tight around the La Muette clinic -- where an entire floor was reserved for the former model and singer -- as the president arrived several hours after his wife, BFMTV reported.

The French have speculated for months that the 43 year old was expecting a boy, but BFMTV suggested Wednesday that it may in fact be a girl.

A large crowd of onlookers and supporters joined reporters who have camped out intermittently at the facility for the past two weeks. The original expected due date was given as Oct. 3.

Yes, they are. That 59% approval is August 1998. What happened prior to that?

Well best wishes to Mr and Mrs Sarkozy, hopefully the President will have a lot of free time to spend with his kid in a few months time.

These things don't last though. He should have planned this better.

Is Sarko desperate and/or sleazy enough to name her Marianne?

I'm not sure it is comparable.
World Cup win caused happiness in France. Happy people are more likely to see the good things and to approve of people.

I'm not sure than the birth of Sarko-baby will cause happiness outside the Bruni-Sarkozy family and friends.

Yeah, I think France winning the World Cup it hosted probably had a bigger effect on that graph than a baby being born. Luckily Sarkozy will be long gone before the French even have a chance of winning the Euro Cup they're hosting in 2016.

It would be like that time that the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was held at the Polo Grounds in New York.

Exactly this. I don't remember which PS guy commented the news by saying "well, let's send Sarkozy on parental leave so that he can fully dedicate himself to his son".
