I only drink a Red Bull Cola once in a while.

Other than that, I drink mostly tap water, mango- or elder juice.

I avoid them like the plague... except when on the odd occasions when I go out... so sometimes maybe a vodka RB... but I don't use them for 'energy'

good thread.

my first real experience with energy drinks came last fall semester.  I work at a dining outlet on campus, and have for the past 3+ years, almost since enrollment.  last school year I drank heavily on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, much like clockwork, plus whenever I could find an excuse on another night (my 20th birthday, Tues 10/27/10; Election Night, Tues 11/02/10; AFC Championship Game, Jets @ Steelers Sun 01/23/11 all come to mind as examples).

my shifts at work would run approx. 4-730pm, Mon-Thurs.  the end of the Thursday shift marked the effective end of my week, as I had and have Fridays off.  here is where the energy drinks come in.  every Thursday I would take a "care package", as I would call it, from work, usually consisting of a "cajun chicken wrap", two bottles of G2 Gatorade, and one or two 16oz Rockstar Zero Carb energy drinks: maybe a $13 retail value, a super perk relative to my $8.45/hour wage.

these were all essentials for kicking off the weekend bender.  after killing 3 beers I'd start in on the Gatorade, which presumably due to the electrolytes helps to ward off hangover.  after killing 3-4 more I'd eat the cajun chicken wrap, and then with the blood sugar surge and .12-.15 BAC start feeling super drowsy, so, BOOM!  240mg caffeine and taurine and Lord knows what else taken to the dome would buy me another few hours and beers before the 2-3am passout.

so I'd probably have to rank Rockstar Zero Carb first, Red Bull sugar free a distant second.

I don't drink them very often, but my summer mid-day diet consisted mostly of beef jerky, pringles and a Rockstar energy drink. Rockstar's my favorite, followed by Monster. I'm not too keen on Red Bull partially because I had one about 2 months ago and it tasted like warm piss.

Drinking a Red Bull right now, actually. Cheesy

Drink them occasionally, maybe one every other week or so. Generally prefer to intake my caffeine from coffee.

What are your favorite energy drinks?

Energy drinks??  You taking about that stuff they sell in convenience stores to truckers and rednecks who are running low on meth and can't make a connection?  Like the one with the wings?

Can't say I've tried any of them.  Can't say I ever will.

Any drink I drink is either because I'm thirsty, in which case I drink water, or because I'm looking to take the edge off, in which case I drink cognac, red wine, vodka, or, on occasion, tequila.

My first introduction to the energy drinks phenomena was back in 2000.  Myself and three friends of mine went out to Twickenham, Greater London to stay with a classmate for 11 days. After lashing back a good dozen pints on the first night out, the bars was unceremoniously closed at 11pm.  I was then treated to the London after hours nightlife and had my first round of what I misheard as a Vodka rebel.  I soon learned that drunkenness and being highly caffeinated was a combustible mix.  Some bad dancing and many drinks later I found myself 86'ed from my first British bar. Ive never had an energy drink without alcohol so I could really not pick a favorite. I only know that booze and red bull equals a bad outcomes for patrick1.
