Quote
The Elections Crisis Act
1. In the event of a crisis in the region that results in vacancies in the Legislature, Governor, Lt.Governor, Judicial officer, or any other officer, or their incapacitation or otherwise inability to carry out their duties, that thus results in nobody being otherwise legally able to administer and/or certify an election, and, a general election is scheduled to take place within the next week, the "Elections Crisis Act" is activated.

2. This act allows for others to be given the temporary power to administer and/or certify an election to replace those vacant offices as needed. These persons are listed in section 3 of this act, and the list shall be followed in order, first to last.

3.
A- SoFE
B- Regional Senator
C- Any other Senators from the region in the Senate, starting with the member who received the most ballots on the first ballot of the election that placed him or her in the Senate.
D- Any person nominated by the Legislature within 72 hours of the activation of the act; with the time to vote yea or nay on that single person not included within those 72 hours, so long as the time set aside to vote does not extend past 96 hours.
E- The President, or anyone else authorized by the President to act on his or her behalf.

I've just proposed this to our regional Legislature. It is designed to ensure that problems like we've seen in the NE in the past can never possibly happen again at a regional level. I'll begin work on one for the federal level.

Isn't this basically just an expanded version of the Federal Election Agent Act?

Here. I was going to comment that you wrote it, but then I realized that I probably don't remember half of the bills I've written. Tongue

Sounds like something I wrote.

This is much bigger, and, much more friendly towards the region, and as well, it is a longer, and harder-to-exhaust list, and thus I endorse this new act over the old one.

The Southeast has had a law like that for years. I remember Sam Spade had to open a voting booth once when he was our regional Senator.

How do you suggest the department be re-organized?

Article IX, Section 2 provides for the Viceroy or the Judicial Overlord to open the booth if it is not opened within six hours of the earliest possible opening time. Not sure where it says the Senator can open the booth.

In short, the SoFE will become DRG and the RG will become DSoFE, and the President will be able to appoint an "Agent" to be the "Deputy" for both.

Not sure if it was mistakenly never added to the Constitutional text itself or if it was accidentally repealed somehow.

Pretty sure it wasn't repealed, which means that it just wasn't added to the text. I'll have to go through the amendments passed since then & see if any of them also edit either or both of those two sections.

I'm willing to consider an amendment to the following as friendly:

3.
A- Regional Senator
B- Any other Senators from the region in the Senate, starting with the member who received the most ballots on the first ballot of the election that placed him or her in the Senate.
C- Any person nominated by the Legislature within 72 hours of the activation of the act; with the time to vote yea or nay on that single person not included, so long as the time set aside to vote does not extend past 96 hours.
D - SoFE
E- The President, or anyone else authorized by the President to act on his or her behalf.
