Not exactly stellar numbers for the movement.

So wait, are you telling me that Americans tend to oppose their own economic interests? Get out of town!

I would say 43% for a movement that supports both open borders and economic protectionism is quite an accomplishment.

and just over a quarter don't agree... and? it's more popular than not...

But it does reflect OWSt's biggest problem... their message is confused. Say what you want about the Tea Party - at least they get a unified position together for the public. Occupy Wall St, even though I do agree with their point - are too... "left wing" in their organising...

In fact, it's my biggest pet peeve about the left is that they worry so much about not being inclusive - that they don't realise that in order to get public support you need a clear and unambiguous message.

Because most Americans have been brainwashed to believe in a political culture that labels such things as what OWS stands for as "childish" or whatever.  Like how old Republicans and faux-liberal Democrats like to say that American socialists/communists/anarchists are just a bunch of silly ignorant teenagers, or something, and that their position could never have any intellectually sound legitimacy.

It's not hard to have that much support when you have so many different groups involved with the rallies.  Simply news coverage of the rallies show people from the Lyndon LaRouche camp, Ron Paul-ites, big Unions, Socialists, Anarchists, and even Tea Party members.  So the question isn't really about support for the rallies, but which subgroup do you support?  I think the poll should be redone with more specific questioning.

The Bolsheviks knew what they were doing. (Or they did more so than OWS does)

Yep, exactly.  OWS is too far left and disorganized at this point.  I still think some of their ideals are "pie in the sky at this point".  Some have no economic basis.
