I am looking for minor investors (read: nobody you've heard of, mostly fellow board members at Bartlett Bank) to join up with me to buy the Virginia Devils, to be re-named the Richmond X-Men (since Nyman and Baltimore are taken...).

I'll buy the Virginia Devils, put them in Winchester, and rename them the Shenandoah Valleys.

How much are you willing to pay?

$17,819,654.67, give or take 15 million dollars.

I have lined up $16.5 million in assets (more than my current wealth, but I have had many other investors - especially Marklin Group hotels (I am its CEO, and the board members want to build a Rest Inn right next door... coincidence? Nope)).

I'll be an investor as well. Where should the team play?

Richmond. One of the biggest cities in Virginia, central location, not too close to Baltimore or Nyman.  I've given the team the name 'Richmond X-Men', reference both to my name and to the comic book heroes. If you want a piece of the action, maybe the team will play in MHS Stadium?

If not Richmond, then Norfolk/Newport News area, or if you want a mountain city, Charlottesville.

Winchester is too small, and too close to other teams.

We can go with Richmond and MHS Stadium works.

Deal!

If it is OK with Daniel, the X-Men can be the 1991 Washington Redskins.

Sure, fine.

The map easily has room for expansions, assuming the AFL has a successful season or two. I can see a sixth league (maybe a seventh or eighth). Another possibilitiy is expanding each league to six, seven, or eight teams.

New Leagues: Interior West, Mid-South, whatever
Any five of these (or any 10 in 2 leagues? 15 in 3?), with tentative names:
Las Vegas Aces
Denver Pikes
Phoenix Firebirds
Santa Fe Pueblos
Houston W's
Dallas Rangers
St. Louis Bulldogs
Kansas City Grange
Sacramento Leaders
Los Angeles Stars
Chicago Packers
Orlando or Jacksonville Gators
Miami Bayside
Davenport Bruins (derived from Brunsel - Brun - Bruin)
Triangle Warriors (Raliegh-Durham-Chapel Hill)

Also, eventually I'd like to buy a team in Florida, as an expansion. I'm from Florida, and it saddens me to see one of the nicest states in the  union - and a fairly populated one, too - has its citizens schlepping all the way to Atlanta, or maybe Jackson or New Orleans (or Columbia) just to see some professional football.

1 season per month makes sense, especially since it seems every other month has a titanic shift in electoral politics.

If we have Football, Badminton, and Basketball, why not Baseball?

I have an idea: 4 leagues of 7 teams each, for 28 teams. Example:

Northeast:
Maine Coastals
Concord Bonos
New York Emperors
Bay State Colonials
Pennsylvania 13ers
Philadelphia Cheesesteaks
Atlantic City Trumps (former Newark Pirates)

Southeast:
Atlanta Fire
Carolina Crusaders
Jackson Bandits
New Orleans Saints
Richmond X-Men
Nyman Nationals
Florida Gators (addition)

Midwest:
Pittsburgh Soulties
Cleveland Browns
Ohio Gamblers
Wisconsin Independence
Twin Cities Tigers
Baltimore Aknos
Buffalo Lake Effect

West:
San Diego Spartans
San Francisco Sharks
San Jose Kings
Western Bulldogs
Washington Cascades
Las Vegas Aces (addition)
Houston W's (addition)

A modification would mean no wildcards: the top 2 teams in each league advance to the playoffs.

Could I please have the Ohio Gamblers renamed to the Ohio Namblers?  And they'll be playing in Goatse Field.

Considering where they're playing, I don't think i even want to know what a Nambler is...
