It is certainly interesting (assuming you aren't the sort of closed-minded oaf who ignores discussions on gender as a matter of course) that gender roles amongst children are now enforced to ridiculous levels. It is folly to say that gender roles among children are non-existent without the pernicious influence of marketing, but the modern hyper-specific markets that target children leave no room for overlap. Everything is regimented. This is a "boy's toy" and the ubiquitous pink aisle is the "girl's section".

It's especially strange to consider that the idea of treating boys and girls so seperately isn't even a "traditional" value. Look at the many, many pictures of Presidents looking androgynous or even feminine as children. Look at old adverts for toys (50's) which often showed boys and girls playing together with unisex toys. This is one area that society truly has regressed since the 50's. "Post-feminist" society? pfff hahaha
