Yes, but if the US announcement was that "we have to comply with the law which prohibits funding UN bodies which admit Palestine" rather than "we believe Palestine should negotiate with Israel to form a state instead of unilaterally going to the UN", then the context would have been different. The former could be a subtle sign the US is starting to soften its position. The latter shows nothing has changed. And the latter has been true.

It's sad that jmfcst's comment either leads to Israel ceasing to exist as a Jewish state, or an Apartheid regime, or a Final Solution to a problem of Six Million untermenschen (maybe this time round there will be less emphasis on concentrating them in camps and more on giving them quick showers).

EDIT: Another option would be for the Israeli government to require all Jews to wear yellow stars in public to receive special privileges not available to the majority Arabs in Israel.
