CD1 53.1% White, 43.0% Black (56.4% White 40.2% Black VAP), 50.04% Obama, 49.1% McCain

CD2 47.9% Black, 47.3% White (50.2% White 45.4% Black VAP), 51.6% Obama, 47.7% McCain

CD3 48.4% White, 45.3% Black (52.1% White 42.3% Black VAP), 50.8% Obama, 48.4% McCain

CD4 83.4% White, 11.2% Black (84.9% White 10.5% Black VAP), 80.3% McCain, 18.7% Obama

Three White majority VAP majority Obama districts. In Mississippi. There are not words.

As an added and entirely unplanned largniappe, the city where Mississippi Burning is set is split between three districts.

It wasn't even any harder to draw than my two Black majority districts map from earlier:

It's lagniappe Lewis. I learned that word studying for the SAT back in 1968.  I remember seeing that word on the page in my mind's eye as if it were yesterday. I just fell in total love with the word. Imagine my excitement when decades later I actually saw it on a restaurant menu in New Orleans. Smiley

Well that's pretty awesome.  Do you have a precinct results map of Mississippi that you based this on?

I may have to forward this to a friend that works at the MS Democratic Party, since the state legislature and Congressional district maps made this past year are likely to all get thrown out and redrawn next year.

No, but you can draw your own with Dave's Redistricting App.

Do that... not that any court is going to draw two Black districts if it needs to be that contorted.

The State has asked the federal court that drew the congressional districts for 2002 to draw them for 2012.  If its the same court, they won't do anything other than balance population.
