Personally, I would make Homer the Mayor of Springfield from 1995-1999, Springfield County Commissioner from 1999-2002, Lt Governor of Illinois from 2003-2009, Governor from 2009-2015 and then POTUS from 2017-2025. But that is my opinion.

While we're at it, let's elect Bart to Congress in 2014.

IIRC, according to Simpson's canon, Bart becomes Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The flip flopping Ronald Reagan
1951 - 1959 - Congressman
1959 - 1966 - Senator

As California's Democratic Senator, he often voted with Republicans on issues like the Military and Taxes. On other issues, especially labor unions, he voted with the Democrats, but was slowly but surely moving toward the Republicans. After publicly exclaiming he wouldn't have voted for a Democratic nominee since Truman, he joined the Republicans in 1966, to their mixed excitement.

1958
Congressman Ronald Reagan (D) - 60.1%
Governor Goodwin Knight (R) - 38.2%

1964
Senator Ronald Reagan (D) - 51.3%
Screen Actor's Guild President George Murphy (R) - 48.7%

1966 - 1971 - Senator

Reagan was never a particularly good Senator. He was often bored with the tasks he was given. Seeing no opening for the Republican nomination in 1972, he ran for Governor instead to keep his name known.

1971 - 1979 - Governor

Democrats were ready to bust Reagan's head, and Republicans weren't particularly trustworthy of him, seeing as his former rivals nearly knocked him off in the Republican primary (Unpopular Governor Jesse Unruh decided not to run for re-election). Still, a crowded Democratic primary resulted in Democratic nominee Sam Yorty, an awful candidate, and Reagan skated by.

1970

Senator Ronald Reagan (R) - 50.2%
Mayor Sam Yorty (D) - 48.3%

1974
Governor Ronald Reagan (R) - 53.8%
Assemblyman Bob Moretti (D) - 43.2%

1980 - Failed Republican Presidential Candidate
