Who would Newt Gingrich select as his running mate?  Who should he pick?

I don't have anyone in mind, but I do think everyone one of his opponents will be damaged goods by the time of the convention.

Everytime I look at Gingrich, I can smell Marco Rubio's taint.

Paul Ryan (if he can run for reelection in the House at the same time)
or
Rubio

It'll either be a Gingrich/Cain or a Cain/Gingrich ticket, that much we know for sure.

Would either of them want to be associated with such a polarizing and baggage-laden figure as Gingrich? I doubt it. (BTW, WI does have an LBJ law)

Well that will help the GOP close the gender gap, for sure.

A Cain/Gingrich ticket will easily win the unemployed women demographic, after offering them jobs.

Probably wouldn't work, for obvious reasons.

I know how Newt thinks on this front because I remember his recommendations for McCain.

He'll do everything in his power to get Rubio. If Rubio can't be persuaded he'd probably go for

Nikki Haley next, then Martinez, and then probably Jindahl (1 of Newt's picks for 08).

If you want Newt's wild card it would be Fortuno. And Newt has a history in picking wild cards. Before McCain picked Palin, Newt only recommended 2 names Jindahl and Palin.

Newt and Santorum seem to be in a love-fest in the debates.

While I'm sure they could find a way around it, doesn't the US constitution forbid the Presidential and VP candidates from being from the same state?

Cain, Haley, or maybe even Pence, if he's not that into the whole governorship gig.

Newt Gingrich/Dan Quayle 2012!

Because the 2010s are the new 1990s.

Before even touching that myth Newt lives in McLean, Virginia and has so for 10 years.

So Callista Gingrich can be VP.

Susana Martinez, Marco Rubio, Bob McDonnell (if Virginia is needed, though he's a very likable and now qualified man for bi-partisanship).

He floated the idea of Mitch Daniels though I doubt that would hitch. Cain is dumb enough to want to pick Newt, Newt is an actual seasoned political veteran and wouldn't picked a VP that comes exactly from the same base of voters.

I don't think he'll pick Cain. Two men who have interesting sexual histories on the same ticket? That's sure to fly with evangelicals. Tongue

I think he'd pick Thune. He has the evangelical credentials and experience in the Senate.

Indeed. Another interesting pick could be Sam Brownback, though I think Thune is the better choice.
