Who here would vote for him?

A recent poll had him at 5% there, well ahead of many of those guys who've spent millions of dollars so far.

He's saying tonight on his show that he's running (and handing over his superPAC to Jon Stewart) but South Carolina doesn't allow write-ins so this isn't really going to be that amusing.

He should run against Obama in the Democratic primary. That would be far more amusing.

OK, but isn't Comedy Central on legal shaky ground if they keep his show on the air while he has that exploratory committee?

He tried to run on both ballots in 08 but was blocked because Dorittos was sponsoring his candidacy. I am not sure if they are this time around or not.

Dorritos never actually sponsored or gave any money to his campaign. That was just a running joke. He didn't get on the ballot in '08 because the Republican party required too large of a filing fee and the SC Democratic party executive committee rejected his application for ballot access.

It's too bad that he can't get on the ballot. Is there any way around that? Oh well, it's going to boost ratings for him, but ultimately a few days down the road he's going to have to break it to his audience that this ain't going to happen.

I would honestly not be surprised in the event of mass movement of the jmfcsts to Mr. Colbert.
