Presidents are limited by their congress (by design, though Obama has faced a bit abusive ones).  Given the constraints, I think he's done fairly well.  I doubt there was anyone available in 2008 who would have been better or anyone in the 2012 GOP field who would be better.

Are you serious?  I don't see how anyone who ever voted for him could vote for the alternative.  They're that bad.  After all any aspects of Obama which should displease the type of voter who voted for him previously would be magnified immensely by any of the extremist candidates.

Yes and sometimes no. I'm still voting to re-elect him though.

It's difficult for me to look at the legislative achievements of his first two years and deny that he's gotten several things accomplished and made several steps forward on certain issues, even if not perfect or gone the whole way. 2009-2010, despite the public wheeling and dealing on certain issues and all the partisan angst in the media, was one of the most legislatively accomplished Congresses we've had in a very long time.

So, when given the ability to actually do things, yes, I believe Obama has done a good job. Not great. But good. I also think his foreign policy is miles smarter and more efficient than the previous administration's, even if (again) not great. So, I will vote for him, semi-unenthusiastically, with the understanding that, if we want things to get done, we need more Democrats in office. Obama isn't a wizard; he can't pass everything he wants through an obstructionist House.

''eh...'' is an assesment of his Presidency, not him compared to Republicans. Without doubt I prefer him to any Republican, but that isn't to say I think he's terribly good.

A ''good'' President might've gotten a much larger stimulus through that actually worked, instead of agreeing on one too small to actually induce growth for the sake of ''compromise''.

Obviously, a larger stimulus, though unpopular at the time, would've created more growth, lower unemployment, and would've been smarter politically than that weak ish he pulled.

Obama only had two years of a Democratic majority in both chambers.  Contrasted with Bush having a much longer time with a GOP House and Senate.  I find it amazingly funny that the conservative media talks about how the Democrats had control in Washington for a mere two years when compared to the GOP for years before that.

With the newly found craziness in the Republican party thanks to the conservatives in the Tea Party I think the President has done a great job as President.  If the GOP were truly willing to negotiate then I would move President Obama down a few points for not getting more done.

Done about as good job as he could have, considering the things outside of his control.

It could've been better but it is far preferable to the alternative.

Despite the many disappointments, Option 1.  Given the circumstances he had to work with, I don't suppose I could have expected the sun and moon from him.

Except for the economy -- pretty d@mn good. As for the economy, I think that we would do better if we hadn't given the Hard Right a second chance in 2010.

While, like a couple of others, I can't obviously vote for him, I do think he's a done a pretty decent job, all things considered. And I still think Obama's been a better President than the other candidates would have made. Predictably, the administration's domestic achievments are blasted by the Left as not going far enough and by the Right as creeping socialism, but I think it's fairly hard to deny that Obama's been the most succesful Democratic President since Johnson (not that that's especially difficult, I suppose). And his foreign policy record is quite good, obviously.

It's not even that relevant, though. The alternative is unacceptable.

I dont approve of Obama now, but cant see the GOP nominating anyone who I could vote for. I had hoped Huntsman would do better. I am OK with Romney winning, but not sure I could vote for him. So I guess I will vote for Obama this time, unless someone interesting runs for 3rd party like Bloomberg (or even Huntsman, but not Paul).

Obama is the reason I was able to get physical therapy on my knee again and despite the abuse of the right wing he has done so much. Not perfect but I wasn't expecting that and I'm sure he wasn't expecting such ruthless obstructionism and even then he found ways around it. So #1 for me.

As far as Democrats go, yes. He's been your typical center-right politician.

Option 2. Not left-wing enough.

Same for the Democrats as a whole. It's why those Occupy protests are happening and it (the corporate drafting and ownership of all legislation (and legislators)) will remain that way until the neoliberals are thrown out.

I obviously prefer the lesser of two evils (the Democrats) hold onto the Presidency, the Senate, and retake the House but I have no high hopes for 2013-2014 even if that happens because they will not vote to abolish/reform the filibuster or pursue any real left-wing economic/healthcare solutions so it will be a repeat of 2009-2010: inadequacy.
