There are no dates set for primaries for the AFDNc in the next election, but I do plan to hold three primaries:

One open primary (All registered Voters may vote)
One semi-open primary (D's and I's can vote)
One closed primary (Only reg'd D's can vote)

oooh, no, i don't want the republicans voting for who they perceive as the weakest candidate
I'd rather have 3 primaries only open to dems, with each having a different method of giving delegates.
OR we could have 5 regional primaries.

At least a semi-open one would be nice. And I also support the idea of an open primary, it'll be more fun. Smiley

I'm sticking with one Open Primary.  Where would Edwards have been without those people?

I'm behind you. Smiley

Maybe we'll have to have a vote on it...

Just like we will all vote for John if there is an open primary, they will all vote for shapeshifter.

I like the idea of semi-open primaries, but in this context I think open primaries would be a bad idea. Perhaps if the AFRNC also had one I might change my mind but at present my thinking is that it would be stupid.

As I said, any open primary needs to be accompanied in number by GOP primaries-so if we have 1 open, 1 semi open and one closed, they have to too; if we have two closed, one semi open, then it doesnt matter; if we have all closed it doesnt matter, etc.

Basically if we have any open primaries they have to reciprocate.

Maybe we should add it to the constitution that every party has one open, one semi-open and one closed primary?

No, the nomination process should be decided by the parties. I agree with Hughento that a similar system for both sides would be nice. Smiley

The constitution sjould not be about parties. We have a party constitution that gives members and ind the right to vote un a convention and primeries

The AFDNC will make their own nomination schedule.
That's all there is to say about that.
