You'd move in and out of Bavaria on a regular basis?

(also 1949 as the only FDP vote looks kind of... bad... because of the... sort of people... who... did that... in reality...)

Mostly that. I'd vote Die Linke or Green out of protest some times.

If I lived in Bavaria: CSU all the way. If I lived outside of Bavaria: CDU all the way, although a bit reluctant in recent years.

1949: FDP
1953: FDP

1957: CDU
1961: CDU
1965: CDU
1969: CDU
1972: CDU
1976: CDU
1980: CDU

1983: FDP
1987: FDP
1990: FDP
1994: FDP

1998: SPD
2002: SPD
2005: SPD

2009: FDP

Basically, FDP until they join a coalition with the SPD. Then CDU until the FDP rejoins them. I also like Schroeder's Third Way Policies, so I support him and his party until he is no longer leading them. I am a fan of Merkel's, though I would vote FDP in 2009 due to ideological reasons.

People with E -5.55 don't vote for unabashed neoliberals unless their head is screwed on wrong.

Sure I've done this before, but I'll do it again from scratch without looking at previous results in order to compare (party list votes!).

1949: CDU
1953: CDU
1957: CDU
1961: CDU
1965: CDU
1969: SPD
1972: SPD
1976: CDU
1980: CDU (or more accurately: CSU)
1983: FDP (tactically)
1987: CDU
1990: CDU
1994: CDU
1998: SPD
2002: CDU (or more accurately: CSU)
2005: FDP
2009: CDU (and that is how I voted...even though I was going back and forth between CDU and FDP.....I'm glad I voted as I did.)

SPD right through until 2009, when I would've voted for Die Linke. I'd vote SPD in 2013.

Did those people vote FDP in the first election? I didn't know that, although I suppose it makes a certain degree of sense. Can you elaborate?

The FDP was basically a party of ex-Nazis in the first years.
Nazis were found in every German party (except for the Commies perhaps) after WWII, but most of them went with the parties of the protestant bourgeoisie (besides the FDP, there were the Deutsche Partei / German Party or the Wirtschaftliche Aufbauvereinigung / Association for Economic Recovery and other smaller parties on the right).

The SPD was not the party of choice for most Nazis for obvious reasons, and one should not forget that the early CDU (i.e. until 1949/50) was strongly influenced by the Christian labour movement and some men from the Christian antifascist resistance. Hans Katzer, Jakob Kaiser, Karl Arnold, Johannes Albers deserve a mention. The first generation of Christian Democrats didn't want the Nazis in there party.

Of course, after 1949 Adenauer took over the party, basically destroyed the progressive potentials in it and transformed it in a broad center right anti-socialist coalition. Now the (career) Nazis joined the CDU in droves.

And to answer the question, straight SPD from 1918-1933 and since 1949.
Before 1918, depends on the constituency I lived in. Usually SPD, but sometimes a lesser evil in a constituency where the SPD had no shot.

It's worth noting that not voting SPD in 1949 means not voting for Kurt Schumacher. And he was pretty badass, you know?

Actually, that's a fair point. Revise '49 to SPD.

SPD straight, perhaps some Die Linke thrown in occasionally.
