quest for forum oligarchy
«
on:
November 12, 2011, 11:22:08 am »
it's time to revive this theme. it's been a while since I harped on this. the people who registered first deserve the most respect. this of course means that the most privilege should be given to Nym90, jmfcst, TCash101, nclib, Al, and me, roughly in that order. now we have to figure out how to dole out this privilege, how to quantify it.
one could be an anti-blasphemy law, where any posts deemed to be disrespectful to an Elder would be infracted. another would be to allow infraction point deductions from Elder members.
more broad coercive powers would of course be contingent on approval of the site's owner.

Nym and Al are topdog mods and jmfcst is allowed to say whatever he wants without punishment.
Mission accomplished.

I propose the following members of the Forum Forum:
The first 50 members to register, who have been active since January 2009:
Dave Leip (1)
Peter (3)
Kevinstat (5)
Al (
Darth Kosh (9)
TCash (10)
Nym90 (11)
Tweed (12)
Migrendel (13)
Mike Z (15)
Jtfdem (16)
Ryan (17)
Beef (20)
nclib (21)

Zork Politics (31)
Harry (35)
rtb48 (36)
Clay (41)
Mr Fresh (43)
KEmperor (47)
Wakie (49)
Those posters in the top 30 number of posts who have been approved by the majority of the above group, subject to veto by Dave, not totalling more than 15.
Eligible to become a member of the Oligarchy, based on post count:
BRTD
Lewis Trondheim
Keystone Phil
opebo
Xahar
Eraserhead
Lunar
Alcon
Kalwejt
Gabu
Hashemite
Sam Spade
JJ
Jfern
Ben Constine
Joe Republic
Gustaf
A18
Inks
Gramps
MODU
Supersoulty
PiT
Leif
Downwithdaleft
Jake
TenderBranson
Furthermore, one member may be added every US election day, based on a vote by the Forum Forum, regardless of join date or number of posts.
Membership is for life as long as you have been active at least once since the January following the second-to-most-recent election. (ie for now, must have accessed the forum since January 2009, will change to January 2011 in November 2012), or 3/4 of fellow members expel you, subject to veto by Dave. If a poster who qualified due to post count has since been overtaken in the top thirty, s/he can face a vote of expulsion in which a simple majority can expel the member, subject to a veto from Dave.

here is the 'old forum' that we all speak of:

you can all hunt down my highly embarrassing posts from when I was 12 and a 7th grader.

Ammendment to the above list: Any member who joined the old forum may serve in eitherthe Forum Forum or the Council of Elders, who may not rule but can advise, and who can pass or veto in lieu of Dave should he not respond in a timely manner to the actions of the Forum Forum.

Coincidentally, I would be happy to suggest that the 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 electees could be yourself, ilikeverin, angus and afleitch. I'd nominate Lunar for 2012, but there are many other possibilities.
