Asked mainly because I'm sick and tired of the "Do you support Israel's right to exist" question and wanted to show how absurd it is.

I'd prefer not to subsidize rogue bulldozers, yes.

Yes, I'd favor a two-state solution with Palestine as one of the states (the other being Israel obviously).

A two state or three state solution would be fine. I'd prefer a three-state solution though.

I don't think any country has a "right to exist". Rights are such an arbitrary and shifting concept, the fact that we always seem to be inventing new ones, let alone for governments, is nauseating.

That said, I would support the creation of a Palestinian state, preferably along 1967 lines. I also wouldn't oppose splitting Gaza and the WB. The logistics of both are a nightmare, but the status quo is hardly working for Palestinians.

Of course. Since pretty much the entire Arab world does not support Israel's right to exist I don't think that question is illegitimate. One could also argue that many of the anti-Israel crowd in reality also oppose Israel's right to exist in the sense that the policies they support would mean that in practice.

Then again, some people on the other side oppose Palestine's right to exist, or at least one could argue that point in a similar fashion.

Sure, but then most people do these days (whereas no one really did a few decades ago).

Rights are such an arbitrary and shifting concept, the fact that we always seem to be inventing new ones, let alone for governments, is nauseating.

This particular one has been around for a while, though. Of course the way it's usually phrased in this context is certainly quite unusual.

Not only do I support the right of Palestine to exist, and, the right of Israel to exist, and, that they should be divided, but I think that we as "the world" should force that division upon them for their own good.

Of course I do, in general.

Having said that: If your sympathies really are with the Palestinian people, the common Arab man or woman in Gaza/Westbank, than the struggle for national independence shouldn't be the central issue.

What would they, the common Arabs, actually win if the territories became independent now?

They would get a deeply troubled state always on the treshhold of civil war, and a bunch of utterly corrupt guys driving around in black limousines who give a shít about them.

Is that scenario worth killing and dying for?

Conclusion: A Palestine state has to come one day, the sooner the better, but it is not the solution to any of the problems of the Palestine people. It is for the most part their own leadership, and the bloody rulers of Gaza in special, who make their lives miserable. They have to be changed first.

I think the Palestinians should be able to live in a free, democratic state as equal citizens with protection for their human rights and a government that cares about their general welfare, prosperity and security. Whether or not the best means through which that end can be reached is the creation of a Palestinian state separate from an Israeli state, I don't know.

Jordan should let them back in their rightful land in the southern portion of Jordan. So in essence, they should be under Jordanian jurisdiction as citizens of Jordan with the rights according to them. If they should choose to hold a plebiscite regarding self determination in the future they have that right as long as they don't encroach Israel.
